Are these necessary or just added cosmetics that will add unnecessary weight to the bag? Opinions?

For me it's both. It's another way to personalize my bag and it also keeps the sticks, I carry two, together preventing rattling. It also prevents me from hitting my woods on the tops of the sticks if I don't put the cover on before it goes in the bag.

IMHO, it is absolutely necessary. In my case, my Daphne's Driver Cover happens to be a Koala and it hugs my Titleist Alignment Stick Cover.

An alignment stick cover acts as a barrier to avoid extra noise (clanging) and helps keep your golf bag clubs look somehow organised inside your bag. You can also put the putter, hybrid and fairway wood covers on top of the alignment stick cover in the golf course and this may avoid the dreadful loss of any of your covers.

    Therefore, IMHO, it is necessary.

Very lightweight. Just like a headcover for my metals, they help "protect my TT alignment sticks" and do look nice with my Titleist Tour Midsize bag. Love mine.

Some people like them, others think they are unnecessary. I understand both sides of the issue. I personally like them covered as I sometimes leave the head cover off the driver or 3 wood and I don't want the alignment stick to scratch the club head. Can't go wrong either way.

As someone that is lucky to not misplace a head cover, it would be one more item to check before leaving the range. That is a larger issue than the weight. At least 2 sticks would stay in tandem rather than rotate while pulling clubs.
Still more nice to have than essential.
  7. Might keep you from sticking one in your eye? Idk

I purchased one last summer - the white leather one Titleist offers. I wanted to try one because I was tired of my two alignment sticks floating around the well of my golf bag. Mostly was I was concerned they would make their way under the headcovers for my driver, fairway metal, or putter and scratch the tops of those clubs. It works, and it looks good. I didn’t feel like it added unnecessary weight to the bag, of course I use a carbon so it is light weight, and am a minimalist in terms of what I carry.

It may stop your clubs from being scratched. It does look cool though…

Weight minimal... Dont need them if you superglue the caps on.... I had one come off and slammed driver back into the bag and it put a two inch scratch on the crown!

Not necessarily necessary, but they keep your sticks together and they look good. I hang my towel off mine. As far a weight they weigh about as much as a golf ball.

I find them to be necessary if you keep them in the bag all the time. When putting your driver back in the bag, the alignment sticks may sometimes slip under your driver head cover and scratch the driver if they aren’t covered.

It’s a matter of personal preference much like using head covers on your woods (or irons )

cosmetics but really really cool cosmetics. As far as weight I think it would be minimal added weight. Usually when I walk I take the headcovers off and leave the alignment sticks in the car.

I use mine to protect my driver & Fairway wood from damage. I have a 15 cart bag & my sticks sit between those 2 clubs and easily could get scratched by my alignment sticks. I leave the caps on my sticks as well. But I think it's important to have & the weight is nothing to me.

Just another thing to lose or get pinched. I put my alignment sticks under the same cover as my 3 wood. Never a problem.

I keep my alignment sticks in a tube. Safe and easy to spot. I also use the tube to hold my towel...
