  1. I was at the range and absolutely pured my 3w. At the top of my follow through I felt the head go flying and I wasn't able to find it. I just started golfing last year, so I have a few questions about it. Is this common? Is this due to my swing, a deformity in the shaft, or something else? Should shafts be switched out ever few years?

That is an extremely rare and unusual spot to break. Somehow the shaft adapter sheered off in the middle? Maybe was cracked earlier in transit by baggage handlers if you have traveled with a soft case? Also strange that the head could fly so far away that you did not find it. TS3 and not TSi3 so I guess you have had it a while? If you are the original owner and got it through a registered Titleist distributor, contact customer service and discuss it. I am sure they would be interested in seeing such a unique break. Sorry about that and hope you fair better with the next one.

I checked a 915 and a TS shaft. Neither looks identical to your SureFit adapter. Did you buy the club used? Aftermarket shafts will have an aftermarket adapter. Worst case scenario the club may be counterfeit. I’m not familiar with a T1100 shaft. If any actual gear heads can chime in as well. Or, possibly the attachment screw was not snugged down enough and allowed stress on th plastic fitting.

I’ve been using the 915 for 7-8 years (7W NLA LH). Other than using the Titleist wrench to torque it to the correct tightness, have done no other care.

Did it sheer off where the screw is or at the hozel? Sometime those screws with sheer of when they have been over tightened. I know sometime will work with different settings with my TSi3 15* until I find the perfect setting but I ensure that I do not tighten it more that one click. If you hear it click twice then it has been over tightened twice then the danger of this happening. Not saying that this is your particular issue. Have you taken it to where you purchased it new to get their opinion? Those of us on here are Titleist loyalists like yourself and only can offer our opinions based on our personal experiences. Chuck. The clicking sound is the torque wrench "slipping" when it gets to the proper "pounds of pressure per square inch". No matter how many clicks you hear, it is still stopping at the required amount of pressure. Only worry if it never clicks and you put the full brunt of those muscular triceps into it. :)

Something a fitter told me years ago when it came to tightening the heads with the Titleist wrenches.
