Can anyone advise what the midsize tour waterproofing is like? I'm not intending to take my bag out in torrential rain, but if unplanned rain hits on the day, it would be good to know the bag can handle it.

I had that bag and have no issues with it. If the heavy stuff comes down my little behind is back to the club house.
All our carts (Ezgo elite) have golf club covers on the back of the carts as do most clubs in the area. The provide good protection of the clubs and bags. Living on the east coast we are subject to unexpected showers during the spring and late summer. June to November is Hurricane season. I have a cart 14 bag is use most of the time and a midsize tour bag that I take to special events (it is customized with my name and TT logo). She holds up well. Too many good days to play in the rain.

Tour and Midsize Tour bags are both made of the solid vinyl material as opposed to the woven polyester of the other bags (except StaDry series). Rain will not penetrate the side of the bag but any and all bags will get wet inside from opening the cover in the rain and inserting wet clubs that you use in the rain. Pack extra towels, rain gloves, umbrella, and make sure your grips are not old and slick. Cheers!
