The old "ideal" rpm used to be 1000 times the number at the bottom of the club. With all of the lofts getting stronger and maintaining higher launch, it seems like the ideal is about 15% lower. So your 6 iron should be getting a bit more than 5000 rpm. Did you happen to get the other specs like peak height and decent angle? These other numbers might show you if you really do have a high spin problem.

If you indeed have a steep attack angle, then bending stronger shouldn't be a problem, especially at just 2 degrees. Chances are, with a steep angle, you are taking the bounce out of play anyway.

Really though, I would just practice manipulating ball positions and learn to control how much spin you want to put on the ball so you got it when you need it and when you dont.

When it comes to the ideal launch angles and spin rates on irons, as a fitter,  i always liked to show an individual what we consider to be ideal, but pair that with the flight a player likes to see. Typically, ideal is 1000 * the number on the bottom of the iron; However, this assumes ideal launch angles and certain ball speeds. Slower ball speeds need high launch because they likely will not spin the ball a lot. Vice versa, individuals with high ball speed, sounds like you, need lower spin to create an ideal flight. I wish I could give you a specific target of launch and spin, but I don't want you to become too focused on that. Instead, focus on a playable flight. 

With regards to the idea of bending the club 2 degrees strong, that is a matter of personal preference. Yes, if you bend them 2 degrees strong, you will lose 2 degrees of bounce. For a digger, that is likely something you do not want to do, but I would suggest trying it because you can always bend them back. I would also suggest the CB or MB head to reduce launch and spin or maybe trying a DG X100 shaft.

Bubba, I have an similar problem to James A. I was fitted for Titleist 714 AP2's 18 months ago. I have since purchased a Trackman unit and found that my launch angle and spin loft numbers are too high with every club in the bag. Using the Trackman optimiser, this is apparent on every shot, with every iron and wood. I play off a 4 hcp and ball striking us one of my strengths. However, according to the optimiser software, I'm robbing myself of at least 8-10 yds of carry with my irons because of the high launch and spin loft. Here are my 7 iron numbers: CHS 90mph. Ball speed. 118mph AoA. -2* Dynamic loft. 28*. Spin loft. 30* Spin rate. 6910 Smash Factor 1.32 Ball height. 116ft Carry distance 166yds Total distance. 170yds. I have experimented with delisting the club at impact. However, even exaggerating this move only reduces my dynamic loft to. 22* at best. I've now reached a point where I'm considering reducing the loft on my irons by 2 degrees. What would be your advice on this? Also, I live in QLD, Australia. No local club fitter. I'm vacationing in California and Orlando, FL later this month. Would you know of anywhere I could get my clubs bent if required?
