For the last month now I have been pulling all my wedges from  120 yards and in, I am left handed and weather I am trying to flight a PW under the wind or hitting a semi full SW from 95 yards everything is right of the target.

Gotta be arms out racing the body , right ?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all and play well !

It is an over the top motion except your clubface is square to the swing path. In a fade or slice your clubface is square to the target but open to the swing path.

That is caused by the upper body getting ahead.

Check to make sure you are not too close to the ball.

Thanks for the tip Lou , I will get my alignment sticks out and work on that this weekend .

I have another post floating but I had that problem with pitch shots pulling. In that case it was caused by turning the hands over. The clubface should point up in the air.

    Hi Andy!

Just a couple of things to check. 1) Check  your alignment, you could be aimed right of your intended target.

    2) If your alignment is correct then check the lie angle of your wedges. If they're to upright the heel contacts the ground

first, shutting down the clubface thus sending the ball to the right of target. If both alignment and lie angles are correct then

get a lesson from a local PGA professional to find the swing flaw causing the pulls to the right. Hope this helps.

Gotta be that, Andy. Or maybe you're holding the clubface a little closed at address?

This is one of the most common things in golf. When players try to hit a less than full shot, they do not fully rotate the lower body through the shot. the result is that the arms take over and the shot ends up in a pull.

Try to shorten your backswing or choke down on the grip when making a partial shot. This will allow you to rotate your body through the shot. This will keep the body moving in front of your arms, the ball will stay on-line and you will still be able to control the distance.

See your local PGA Professional for more help.....

Thanks for the reply, I kinda thought that my body might have been lagging a little causing the pull.

I will work on the shorter backswing  and a more complete rotation. Thanks again !

There are other things that cause pulled shots. Like Keith P stated..... have a pro look at your swing.

My issue with pulls is either too close to the ball (over the top) or overly strong grip.

There is also one other thing that causes a very low pull...... a flat swing (caused by compensating for a flat lie angle by flexing the knees more and standing too far from the ball).  The other thing that happens in this case is you get about 15 more yards out of a pulled shot vs one that straight.

    Andy,

I'm right in there with you, pal!   I've been fighting this problem off and on all year.  Only, to take it a step further, it affects my 9 and 8 irons also.

When I'm off, it feels like my arms and upper body are out in front and not in sync with my lower half.

I've found that MY cause comes from over-swinging--trying to squeeze out an extra couple of yards on a shot.  I've worked at trying to maintain my tempo and swinging EASY. Another key for me is to focus on getting my weight to left side (belt buckle to the target.) The shots go just as far because I'm under control and hitting a purer shot.

Last year it was driving accuracy, this year short irons.   One of these days I'll put it all together.

Best thing for you to do get a lesson from your local PGA pro.
