Played about 4 full rounds so far this season. Start hitting fairways and can't putt. Start dropping putts and can't put two good shots together. Just can't seem to get rid of the winters rust. Any advise from TT members would be a big help. Thanks!

    Play Well,

I think we all go through what you are describing after a long layoff.  As much as we ant to get out and play, our bodies and minds are not ready.  I think we need to put in a little more range time early in the season.  I was lucky to be able to continue playing in Dec, Jan and a little bit of Feb this winter.  Even with that, when I went back out in mid March I was all over the place (pretty much what you have described).  After a couple short sessions on the range, the swing came back around and my game went back to pre-layoff form.  My suggestion, put in some more time practicing and when you do get back on the course, relax and focus on solid contact.

I agree. The best thing I could think of to help shake the rust loose is some range time, a good pre-round warm-up, and some stretching/foam rolling etc. to loosen up the body after winter hibernation. I'm going through the same thing. Sometimes there just isn't a whole lot you can do about it, but the most important thing is to not freak out and start making a bunch of drastic changes to your swing or something if you normally swing the club pretty well. Just understand that it will pass and pray to God that it really does. Lol.

I feel your pain. I have lost all the gains that I made last year and I just can't seem to get it back. I have gained about 7 shots a round and I just can't shake the rust. I am trying to work it out on the range for the time being. I hope you are doing better at shaking the rust than I am.
