Every fall I evaluate my season.  Did I reach the goals that I set for myself at the start of the season ?  Then I start to plan my strategy for next year.

I've always considered myself a feel player, and yet I can be quite the range rat.  This past year I spent more time than ever on the mental game.  This included visualization, course management, and controlling emotional levels.  I've come to realize that there are now three different areas of my game that must coexist.   My range practice varies between all conceivable  shots but tends to be quite mechanical.  visualization greatly improves on the results of all these shots, yet ultimately it is the ability to not think about any of these during the swing that creates the free feeling motion I desire.  Visualization has helped my have one of the best seasons in many years.  Now maybe a little bunker practice ...

what has worked for you ?

I have to really focus on slowing down, and not being in a hurry to get the ball in the air. I set pretty aggressive goals each year, which for me is a few rounds back in the 60's. And it gets tougher every year. Remember those great swings that felt effortless as they flew at the flag? That is when we ease into the zone. And usually ease right back out to our normal routine eventually. You are on the right thought process, just be patient, swing smooth, and think swing, not hit.....When I think "swing", I'm a lot better player than the "hitter'....All day long.....
