  1. I live up in Wisconsin and winters drive me crazy! I do like to travel down south and play a little, but i hate not being able to swing everyday! So I am wondering what people have for an at home set up! I have more than enough room between a heated garage and a basement that is a workout room! So space isn't an issue! So I want to see pictures and hear what everyone has at home to see what I should go with!

I just could not imagine living up there in the winters. Born, raised and now retired in the south. It does get cold here every now and then.
  3. I hear ya Chuck, right out of high school I moved to South Carolina and absolutely loved the courses and the weather! But my wife (girlfriend at the time) and I found out we were having a child and moved right back up here where our family is! We talk about moving back down south everyday! Love to go back!

Let me know when you are headed this way. I live across the river from Charleston. We moved here from Memphis in 1984. Living in South Carolina but my roots are in Tennessee........will friend you....chuck
  5. I live in the south so golf is available all year long. I would go crazy not be able to golf for a season.
It does get cold here at times though, I have thought about picking up an optishot 2 golf sim. It has pretty good reviews.

That would be my solution, but they are building a PGA Tour Super Store near where I live. This is great because they have indoor swing cages.

We only get a two days snow up here in the High Desert L.A. county- 30s and sometimes 20s shows up in the winter, but even though the highs are just above 50s at times, more often than not when the wind of constant 35 mph are on- it's a brut, I wished I had a net. And that's exactly what I did at my garage in one of the bays. Just a simple carpet, a hitting pad, and a double layered net that covers and protects in a U shape- 10x8x10. I remember taking a heat dish with me out there, but the balls would be really cold. It sounds funny when the ball cracks from a driver. LOL confident booster...though later finding out it wasn't because of my club head speed. he he he...

It was great while I had it- not since we've moved. you can buy the nets online now.

You'll have to travel farther than southern illinois. When it hasn't been below freezing this year, it's been raining. I get to my clubs practice green when time and weather permits. Done alot of chipping and putting. I've only had the opportunity to get out and play 18 once this year. Spring is right around the corner!

Living in Madison, "Mad City" is getting close earning its name. I have a 10 foot putting mat in the dead room (unused living room) and access to Steve Stricker's driving shed. Barely tides me over.

Try living in Alberta, Canada!! If we are lucky we get on the course in April and sometimes it will stretch until the end of October.

I you are fortunate enough you escape south to get your golf fix in. For the other 5 months we are thankful simulators have become so popular.

We are moving to SoCal, really dislike the NW rain and cold. But, I usually slap on my rain suit, beanie and cold weather gloves and play anyway. Sucks but doable especially if it's not literally pouring...

From Janesville, WI, I feel ya.
I hang a sheet in the garage to catch foam balls. I use apps or slo-mo video to keep swing in form as ball flight isn't a factor. Sure is budget friendly, but with launch monitors coming down in price... www.amazon.com/.../ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top

And, I putt in the basement.
    Play indoor simulator too.
Spring will be here before we know it, but still not soon enough.

  12. Chuck that sounds great!
Don I was actually just down there the other day and will be heading back down there in a few weeks for the golf show!
And Trevor I give you props. Although I am sure there are some beautiful courses up in Canada!
And I agree the rain and cold gets ridiculous. Feels like it never ends!

I've heard wonderful things about World Woods Golf Club, Edward! Would love to get there someday.

For me, winter is about staying in shape and not allowing myself to be lazy with workouts! I take strength and core classes 3-4 days a week, and some sort of cardio the other days. When I played at PGA National a few weeks ago, I noticed I wasn't as sore after, which I attribute to keeping up with my workouts.

    Good luck everyone!

  15. Edward that looks like a playground I'd love to play on! And Abby that is a great plan! I love working out but my golf bag stays in the same room as my workout room and i really miss getting swings in!
