  1. Since I started playing golf when I was 9 years old I have always had a solid 5 yard draw. I am now 26 soon to be 27 in less than a month and I am experiencing something that I cannot fix no matter how many balls I hit on the range or videos I take. I seem to block the ball causing me to hit the ball to the right missing my target by 10-25 yards pending the distance of the shot and not drawing the ball at all. If there are any pointers or drills out there that could fix this and get me back to my 5-yard draw I am listening all the way! Thanks TEAM!

Nothing will fix you faster than spending some time with a PGA teaching professional.

I agree with Bill L, nothing beats having a pair of well trained eyes backed with some tech to figure this out. Another way is to experiment with ball position and grip, but leave that as a last resort.

I have two things you can try, please remember that it is near impossible to fix your swing without auscultation seeing it.

    1. Lighten your grip. Heavy grip pressure is an easy way to hit a block fade.

    2. Get your holds cleared. You may be getting the club stuck behind uncleared hips.

Go see your local PGA Professional. He will get you sorted out.
  5. Find someone with a trackman, maybe something with your swing and or clubs has changed. If you have been hitting a draw for that many years, and now you are not, something's up

I would recommend going to see a PGA teaching pro at the club where you play and he/she can get you straightened out rather quickly. Anytime I have an issue like that, I go see my Master professional. My pro says the worse thing you can do is ask friends and then listen to them if they are not a PGA trained professional. He puts me on the Trackman and in a few minutes we are good to go, as long as I practice what he tells me. With respect to your request. Chuck.
  7. Without seeing your swing we can't say what might be causing this push/fade. I would suggest find a local golf professional and have them take 30 min to look at your swing and maybe invest in a few lessons to get it sorted out. I had a similar issue not too long ago, but I was a golf professional for many years in my late 20's early 30's and just went back to the basics that I knew. Ultimately I was crowding the ball and standing to close upon address. I took about a half step back and which allowed me to come more from the inside which gave me a straight to a little draw ball flight. Take the time to see a pro. Most will give you 30 min for next to nothing and sometime free of charge.

My best recommendation is see your local pro. It's probably something very simple and he or she will pick up on it right away.
  9. Thank you all for your fast responses and seems like the majority of the team is telling me to see a pro so I have scheduled a local pro to help me out and see if we can fix this issue. I will be meeting with him today and will update you on what the issue is as soon as we figure it out! Thanks TEAM!

If you are really looking to improve, don't be afraid to take some time to find a teacher. Don't assume all instructors are experts in diagnosing the golf swing. Ask around a little, get some feedback, and go see a few guys, if possible. Then make the call as to who you stick with, getting periodic checkups......

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet, but it sounds like you're getting stuck behind your hips. Because your shot is a block rather than a slice, it seems like you have no problem keeping the face square to your path, it's just your path seems to change outward when you get stuck. Clear the hips more (or a little earlier) and you'll be able to come around more. Perhaps in your older age you're not using your hips as much anymore. Definitely go see a pro and let us know how they cleared up your problem. Swing em' good!
