  1. Hey all! Just wanted to see what everyone did in the off season. Mainly what people do in states that dont offer year round golf. How to you stay sharp and what do you do to keep your mind occupied until golf season comes back around???

  2. I live in Nebraska and in the off season I go to the gym more and I look over my data from last year and determine what I need to work on and set goals for the next season like I placed third in my club championship last year so my goal for this year is to win it
  3. Awesome! Thanks for the input! Im in northwestern illinois and have a hard time keeping my mind in the “game” i can only watch golf channel so much to calm my addiction. Haha. Good luck in your club tourney this year!

I have a TPI instructor for a coach and we actually work on my flexibility (or lack thereof at 69) year round. We do have 2 outdoor driving ranges with heated bays and there now some additional simulators available. I focus on minimizing my swing faults more than during the season. I do have a putting mat about 10 feet long to work with. It's the 3-6 feet I need to work on a clean stroke to not push/pull or pull my head up before finishing my swing.
Did play 9 holes on Sunday at 29 degrees. It was novel with having to hit straight and play the long bounces off the frozen tundra (Wisconsin). Average distance increase - 25%. Even frozen, it was still better feedback than off of a mat. Only 73 days until the official opening date.
  5. I have a buddy who put a sim in his garage... so we try to get together and golf a couple times a month. Otherwise, not much you can do in Wisconsin this time of year. Hit the gym, go to the bar, spend money on Titleist golf stuff and look forward to the next season.

I live in Pennsylvania and mostly in the winter I use my 6ft putting mat, putting around 100 balls a night. Then I do put in gym work, focussing on core and chest and arms ( its where I need most work). Finally 2 times a week I will set up a hitting net and hit in my garage ill hit in there for about an hour or 2, depend on how much energy I have after school

Golf should be over as soon as the snow hits the Northeast. Aside from my usual fitness, I pretty much work on putting and chipping into an indoor net. That works on contact for spin and body/head control. As for keeping the mind occupied, I'll regrip a few clubs and watch some TV golf. I have a decent golf library so re reading books kills the down time til better weather.
  9. Gym and simulator golf. Also I like to go out in the snow and walk.
  10. Hello! I have a small indoor putting green in the basement that I practice putting, but mostly to give me something to do during the "dark" time..
  11. Thanks all for the feedback!! Really appreciate it. I have a small indoor outting green i mess with and hit chips in the living room (wife disapproves...). We gave a couple bars around with simulators but at 40 bucks an hour it is tough to justify to go alone. Usually just try to hit in my garage into a net. Best i can work with right now. Haha

Its a great time to work on your fitness in the gym, even though i usually follow it up with pizza! One thing that i think is great idea if you want to make a grip change or takeaway sing is you can groove it indoors by small drills or takeaways! Great way to grab the club the way you want to a couple hundred times and maybe it won't feel so uncomfortable when you start new in the spring!

Recovering from Shoulder surgery! No but being from the North East, just practice chipping indoors with a net and putting. Can't wait till it is all warm.
