I chose the ball I use from trial and error. I wanted a ball that gave me a tighter dispersion and maximum distance.

Without a doubt the golf ball has an impact on a players entire game. This is why when choosing a ball you need to evaluate it's performance over an entire round, maybe even several rounds. I will usually try balls from different manufacturers every spring. I'll get a sleeve of each ball that I want to try (usually a couple every year) and then start my process of evaluation. I always start with putting and work my way back to tee shots. During my eval I'm always comparing the new ball against my current preferred ball, in my case the Pro V1x. Over the years I've tried a lot of balls that are very good, but none have replaced the Pro V1x yet.

my thought is play what's best for you. Now in Rickie situation, I believe it was money. It's no secret Titleist doesn't pay their players like the other companies, rightfully so and I love that about Titleist. They provide the best product there is, they're #1 for a reason. IMO, it's all about loyalty with Titleist and providing the best products to those players. Anyways...

I'm not gonna lie, i've tried all different brands and I'm always going back to the ProV1. I'm not a type of player that can shape shots or whatever. What it comes down to me is feel and there is nothing out there that comes close to the ProV1 feel. NOTHING. PERIOD. KAPUT.

I believe it does, I have used everything from TM to Swish cally and even the informational of the miracle cure all golf issues balls.
I have arrived on ProV1x as my to go ball, I realize, I get a better ball flight and control both from the Tee and my Irons.

I kept experimenting with all of the balls in the Titleist line up and found that the Tour Soft fit my game very well. Been hooked on Titleist since my younger son was 12 (he's 41 now).

Titleist has been making golf balls since Ben Hogan was a rookie and has always been a golf company. Bridgestone makes tires, swoosh makes athletic footwear, Spalding and Wilson are sporting goods companies. I can go on and on. When you say golf ball, I say Titleist.

I started out buying the 15 balls for $12 - golf balls is golf balls. Plus any Pro-V I found would just go further into the woods on a slice than the rocks I was using. Then I won a box of NXTs, and found I didn't have to land the ball in front of the green to hold a green. Then using Pro-Vs (1x first) across a whole round, I would score a little better. Now prefer the V for the soft feel around the greens. AVX would be my second choice.
As for RF, the clothing deal got him to leave Titleist equipment plus they custom make "prototypes". Companies that market based on the season will pay for star power to keep the annual buyers interested in their products. I agree his BFF is BF in the end. Distance isn't hurting him, proximity and aggressive putts more than 4 feet past the hole on misses won't be helped by a ball.

I think the variability has been greatly reduced over the years but yes, golf balls are different and perform differently. Go back to the Tour Edition ball that Greg Norman played. Probably cost him his Masters tournament and maybe countless others. It just spun way too much on firm, fast greens which were the ones he played during majors. Recently Bubba Watson proved that a ball that isn't in sync with your type of game will do more harm than good. Even "hackers" like me can tell the difference between most of the balls i test so i try to stick with one to minimize the variability. After all, its the only element in golf that is involved in every stroke besides yourself.

I play nxt’s,now tour softs I think and it’s really just because there a decent ball at a great price and I loose way to many balls to pay premium prices for them especially now we only have three minutes to look for them........might treat myself to some avx’s In the summer as a new season gift to myself..........a dozen box will last maybe 7/8 games if I’m on fire lol.

I've used Titleist balls exclusively since the 60's. Every once in awhile I would try other brands but never felt like I was playing the best ball on the market. I play the Pro ProV but I'll give the new ProV1 a try this coming season.

The golf ball you choose and play can make a huge difference in you game. Last year Bubba Watson made a big jump up in the FedEx standings and earnings coming back to ProV balls, but that example is an extreme as he plays many imaginative shots with lots of spin and was playing a ball which did not provide as much spin. I believe most of the teaching professionals would tel us all to try different balls and focus on performance with short irons, chipping and putting and then pick a ball and play with it on a consistent basis. If you are comfortable with a ball and they way it plays consistently for you, then you will have more confidence and play better.

I think the better player's game is affected more than the high-handicapper but every player is affected somewhat by the ball they play. A 2-piece ball will not spin as much as a premium ball but that spin is rate is different for every player. The low cap will probably be more consistent than the high cap and have a similar result on each chip.

Titleist golf balls are number one on the tour and in golf for one reason. They are a darn good golf ball, They back it with awesome R&D and a great support team with an average years of experience of 20 plus years. Taking that into consideration Titleist only pays a few select players to play their ball and they still retain that number one ranking by a large percentage, considering the number of other companies making good golf balls. In choosing my vehicles I select them by name, dependability, and consistency as I do my golf ball, and I do not change brands. If it ain't broke, you know, no need fixing it..... I believe in the company and the Prov1.....

I picked my ball because of several factors. It goes further into the wind (ProV1X), I don't now how but it does! When I hit my iron shot to the green it goes high and checks after one bounce. Putting the ball feels nice. Good enough for me.

I picked Titleist because of the roll I got during putts when I was younger. then I experimented from there on distance, feel, etc etc and settled on Pro V1.

Back in high school it was DT 90's (late 70's) but for the same reason. Feel and roll on the putting green.

no ball better than a new prov1 great off the driver and long irons fantastic on short iron approach shots very good feel on the putting green, keep on keeping on top . cally is the only rival worthy because the chrome soft models do not spin as much off the driver face(in my opinion) and may be longer for some golfers, that said no one can match prov1 around the greens. Prov1x maybe but it may have better driver characteristics for high hitters. (my opinion) 718 AP3 irons on my wish list!

I think the ball has a significant contribution to the play of any golfer. The softest, ability to shape shots and impart spin and reproducibility of the manufacturing process all impact performance. Each player is probably best served to try different balls and then weighing cost and performance select a ball matching their game. As with much of golf, repeatability and confidence of the tools used in playing will have a positive impact.

Yes it really does make a difference. If not everyone would be playing $10 a dozen toprocks. Try and get one of them to check on a firm green. Titleist Prov 1 is the godfather of premium balls. My buddy is always trying new balls trying to save a dollar or two. Funny thing is no matter what he has tried he always comes back to Prov's especially in competitions

You see the list of the "Titleist golf ball players". Pros (using Pro V 1s and Xs) that use various club brands on all Tours so the club doesn't matter as much as the ball. A great swing is a great swing regardless of club brand, but, a great ball is always a Titleist.
