Hey TT’s, I recently found a great drill that has helped get my FIR way up. I am fairly accurate off the tee, but a common thing I do is over-swing and try to hit bombs. Pretty simple drill on the range that is kind of fun, but you may get some looks. Get out the driver and find the shortest target flag. Try to get as close as you can while taking a FULL swing, no half swings. After 5-10 balls on that target, work your way towards the next closest flag doing the same thing so-on and so-on until you reach the furthest flag. This helped me not only to slow down, but visualizing a small target inside the fairway rather than just trying to hit the fairway. Hope it helps! If not, still a bit of fun. Hit em straight, DD.

  2. Definitely going to try that. Thanks for sharing that drill

Good drill, I'll have to try that. My best drives have been when I relaxed and went slow. I also tell myself I'm just on the driving range and then the idea of having to hit a good drive down the middle leaves my mind and takes the pressure with it.

It's a really hard drill but I love it.

You definitively get looks from fellow players especially if they know your regular distances.

I also adopted a new swing thought. 3/10 for my swing effort. Keeps me more free, relax and timing is so much better.

Sounds like something Sam Snead use to do at exhibitions with his five iron. Feel blessed to have seen him years ago at an exhibition in Mt Pleasant at Patriots Point Golf Course. What smooth swing. Should apply with any club. Alignment and tempo. Good point.
