Been told to “turn” in your swing? Might not be as straightforward as that! Creating speed is about creating torque and using the ground to create “coil”. Check out how you can create a more torqued-turn to hit it further than you ever have....

Great Information on making a good golf swing. Your concept on torque verses turn is an interesting way to look at it. It seems to help with timing.

This instruction”might” help those that have had a lower lumbar fusion as it tends to create more turn in the right hip and less in the lower back. I’ll let you know later as I am only 7 weeks post op. Minimal rotation is allowed in the spine till about 6 months post op.

Brad, I am 3 weeks pre-op and wondering how things go after surgery, in terms of what you can do and not do. I will be itching to get back to my yoga practice and into physical therapy too, so I can then get back to my golf game. 7 weeks post-op, what kinds of things can you do?

This is so spot on. It is one thing I have discovered recently. I was getting a good turn, but a poor coil. I was not using the ground properly. Once this was explained to me it changed the way I look at the entire swing. One issue with instruction is terminology. Turn is a good term and it's a correct term, however coil is a better term to describe what the turn should feel like. Feels much more powerful. Great video tip here.
  8. That is more clearly described than the usual “hit it further” tips. Off to the range to try it out now.

Like other have been saying, lots of advice out there on turning but not on coiling. I have been trying so hard to turn more in my swing with no improvement but this makes so much sense. Will be trying it out for sure.
