    Hello!

After years of putting woes, it is finally time for me to take charge of my game on the greens. Any and all tips or drills for putting would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all!

Step one: find a putter that fits your putting stroke and setup. It's shocking that many people just blindly buy a putter because it works for others. Getting proper length, lie and amount of toe hang is critical to having a repeatable stroke.

Personally, i have a pretty basic $40 putting mat at home so I can work on straight putts inside 8 feet. Starting putts on line, and being able to ROLL the ball end over end is essential to make shorter putts, and also for speed control. Practice with balls that have a line completely around the ball. If the line does not stay true, then you are dealing with an open or closed putter face or an inside-to-out, or outside-to-in stroke. Work on putting a good, true roll on it. That's the most important thing for success.

Then, when actually at the practice green: Continue that technique on longer putts... making sure the ball rolls end over end and on your intended start line. Once your start lines are good, you're just working on distance control. Remember to move the putter with your shoulders, keeping the putter low to the ground throughout the stroke, and keep the putter moving though the intended start line after impact.

    Practice, practice, practice.

In helping to eliminate 3-putts, try this drill the next time you're on the putting green. Pick out a starting distance from the hole, say 30 feet. Take 4 quarters and place them in a box shape around the hole about 3 feet apart keeping the hole in the middle. When you're practice putting, try and keep the ball inside the box. After you do this for a while and get some rhythm, move the quarters closer together, say 2 feet apart.

This box drill has helped me greatly reduce the number of three putts.

    Hope this was helpful.
