  1. I just recently started to try and learn to draw the ball, It has been working but not the way I wanted it too. I keep hitting low hooking stingers instead of just keeping my regular loft hight and drawing it. Any tips?

Hi - tough shot for the unatural drawer of the ball I’ve always played a fade, this year I have doused myself in tutorials and videos and grip changes and stance everything that they tell you to do all it’s done is ruin what I had now I’m lost in swing thoughts etc I’ve forgotten my natural shot for what “the holy grail” shot in golf stick with your natural shot golf is hard as it is enjoy what you have and hone in on that.

My only other point is I have my driver set up as a draw bias and still fade it and my 3 wood setup as neutral and draw that work that out ‍♂️

Can’t help - I draw my irons, hybrids and whatever woods are in the bag (3, 5 or 7). But drawing the driver, nope. Happens once in a while by chance, but just can’t make it happen.

Kind of funny, as before I switched to Titleist 11 years ago, a draw was my natural flight with my previous driver.

A draw is swing path driven. the swing is inside to out at impact with 3-5 degrees right of the target line & the club face is typically closed a few degrees at impact right of the target line. You might move the left foot towards the ball to help block getting the hips turned too fast & the club too late at impact which will fade or leave the ball out to the right typically.

If you cast the club or swing inside out a draw will be difficult to hit. It will either be a pull, pull hook or fade/slice.

    DRILLS:

    Two Ball Drill:
Sit down 2 balls side by side (about an 1"-2" apart). Address the ball nearest you then hit the one away from you. this will help you get an inside out swing & possibly help with the draw you want to hit. I use this one for hitting a draw & ball striking.

A great ball striking drill is the Tee Drill.
Place a tee just outside the toe of your club & just outside the heel of your club & hit balls without hitting the tees. If you hit the outer tee you're too outside. If you hit the inner tee you went inside out on your swing or cast the club in the downswing. I use this drill for ball striking

Hope this helps, but I would say if you play well hitting a fade, then a draw is overrated (maybe) Lol.

    Good Luck,

  5. Thanks so much!
  6. I spent 20 years playing a draw, it came naturally to me and could never hit a fade. This year I had 12 weeks off injured and I’m not hitting a fade and for the life of me cannot find my draw, so I can testify it’s hard to do!

If you’re hitting hooks you’re on the right path as that was my bad shot when I used to draw the ball. I usually hooked it when I swing a bit quick and got out of sync.

According to Butch Harmon, as Published in Golf Digest:

"I know, you'd love to hit a draw off the tee. You'd probably pick up some distance, and let's be honest, a draw just looks better. You look like a player. Half of what you need to do comes in the setup. First, aim the clubface where you want the ball to finish, say, the middle of the fairway. Then, set your body closed, with your feet, hips and shoulders aimed at the right side of the fairway.

From there, swing the club back along your stance line, or slightly inside your normal path. Coming down, feel as if you retrace that path and the club moves in to out through impact. Finally--and this is where most people go wrong--"make a smoother swing through impact". This allows the arms to release or roll over, which closes the face and produces the draw.

If you try to rip it, the body tends to rotate open quicker, and that makes it tougher to close the face. That's actually a fade swing. So get your setup right, then make a nice, smooth pass through the ball."

  8. Thanks!
  9. I move the ball in relation to my stance. Centered between my feet with a 6 iron i get a slight draw, for a more pronounced draw i move it back an inch or two, but if i go too far back, flight gets lower. For a fade i move it up an inch or two but i have to weaken my normally strong grip a bit.

I've never been a proponent of fighting your natural swing, especially if it's served you well. However, if you want to draw the ball, Darryl M is correct regarding swing path ; inside to outside. When I want to hit a draw I focus on two swing thoughts; 1. I want to make sure I fully extend through impact and that the club head is headed slightly right of my target line and secondly as a means to that end I try and visualize a clock in front of me and try and swing to ward 1:00.

The clock visual may not be for everyone, but it's a simple visual and it works for me.

    Hope this helps. Good Luck.
