Mike, I am a member of PGAHope, I went thru their seminar which is there to help veterans. They helped with various aspects of our game and there were PGA instructors at the teaching seminars. Think we had ten workshops. It is free to the veteran. I would see if there is one in your area and you can make contact with a teaching pro after you go thru the workshops to help you. The beauty of the seminar is when you graduate you get a card that gets you discounts at local courses in your area. In the meantime contact local golf golf pros in your area for assistance. You need someone to work with you one on one. I too am a Disabled Veteran (1965-1971).

First off, thank you for your service and sacrifice! I am also a veteran, and my advice would be to find a TPI certified physical therapist to help you with any swing deficiencies you might be struggling with due to your disability.

TPI stands for Titleist Performance Institute founded by Dr. Greg Rose and David Phillips along 52 member advisory staff of industry leading experts. TPI is the world’s leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury.

Most are Drs and you would most likely need a referral. I am going thru PT now and had to have a referral to the clinic. My first Dr there was TPI certified and it did involve an evaluation of what you could and could not do and as you progressed thru the PT they provided timely progress reports. I was pleasantly surprised at my progress.
Ask for a referral to a Physical Therapist who has a TPI certification (there are various levels, one being basic and 3 being the highest) thru your primary care physician. If you use you local VA facility they may have a physical therapist that can help you or as I said your PCP could get you an outside referral.

You did not mention if you were undergoing any PT for the surgeries. I have scoliosis and PT has helped me develop a very strong core, because surgery is not an option at my age. They have me on a daily exercise program and weekly PT sessions to also strengthen my lower back. It has really helped my golf swing, will be 78 this year and can see a lot of improvement. Could not finish a swing when I started and my drives around 190 yards. Swing speed back in the low 90s and ball around 220+ in the middle, with minimal pain.
