I am 30 years old and have been playing since I was about 7 or 8 years old. Nothing competitive other than friendly scrambles. Just a weekend warrior if you will. Never even really been close to a hole in one before but usually stay around a 10-12 handicap. Just your normal Sunday morning when my 5 year old daughter and I loaded up our cart and headed to the course. Grabbed some snacks and drinks from the gas station and headed to the course. Was running a little late that morning so we didn’t even get to chip or putt around the green. So we head straight to number 1 tee box and through 9 I’m having the worst round of golf I’ve played in years. 3 putt after 3 putt. Double and triple bogeys. My head just wasn’t in it. So we stop at the turn and get a hot dogs and a couple of candy bars and the nightmare of a round I was having continued. If it wasn’t for my daughter I probably would’ve headed back to the truck and went home it was that bad. We get to #14 which is a Par 3 straight uphill that shares a green with a Par 4 on the front nine. Lots of green to work with left to right but only about 10 yards from front to back of the green. Very hard to see pin location let alone even see the ball if it does land on the green. Kind of just listen for the thud and make sure it doesn’t roll down the hill. It’s about 130 yards uphill with wind right at my face so I grab an 8 iron and take a swing, thinking I chunked it too much I watch and hear the ball thud the green. So I waited a few seconds just to make sure the ball didn’t roll back down and off the front. Drove up the hill and couldn’t find my ball. Walked to the back of the green to see if somehow It bounced off the back but had no luck. My daughter always putts the greens as she’s not big enough to hit off the tee box or fairways yet so she grabbed her putter and her favorite hot pink golf ball and tan onto the green to start putting her ball in while I look for mine. I finally give up and decide to walk back to our cart to grab another ball and head back to the tee box. My daughter putts her ball in the cup and is picking it up and yells “Daddy, there’s already a ball in here!” I walk back up thinking maybe the group in front of us had somehow forgotten their ball and picked it up to my surprise and saw my blue permanent marker initials on the side of my Pro V1! Never thought I would experience that feeling on the golf course and it was even more special to share it with my daughter. Thank you Titleist for making a ball great enough to let a below average player succeed in a lifelong goal.
