How Good Do You Think Scotty's Are?

     Scotty Cameron has been crafting putters since he was 9. He in my mind one of or even the best crafts men in golf. But how good are his putters?

    Scotty cameron uses both science and skill to craft his creations. They are used by some of the best player's in the world in the best competitions in the world. So they must be good. His Putters both look good and hit good. This all all great for the average golfer. The fact that the man himself plays a part in the process in special. I bet that doesn't happen any where else! They are crafted by hand and make a statement on the green and in the bag.

    However are they worth the cost? A new Scotty can set you back £300 or more, making it probably the most expensive club in the bag. And are his Putters drawn on walls and floors all over his studio much better than the other cheaper brands also used by the best? 

    In my opinion they are. His Putters may make a statement,with their cost, but also perform amazingly well. They give confidence and hopefully allow you to hole more putts. However this to me is vastly overshadowed by him. He has decades of experience. He has a passion for the game. He is a master craftsman. But most importantly he cares. He makes the best products he can which are the best in the world. Price to him is no obstacle, unlike the corporate giants trying to shift stock. I wish all makers were like him. Focused on the quality of their creations. There are few. Titleist being one. It cares over its ProV1x. Scotty Cameron in my opinion makes the best Putters because of this. 

    Scotty, keep up the good work. Never stop scribbling.

    In an age where many products are made by robots, it means something to me to get a product that was imagined, designed and made by the same mind. I have a cousin that makes bows for violins, cellos etc. His products aren't cheap, but, professional musicians rave about his work. He is a craftsman and I respect that very much. I treasure my Scotty Newport 2.5 for the same reason.

    They are clearly great putters however lots of companies make good products at the moment.  However, I would say the look and craftsmanship might be a step or two above the rest.  The design process of his CT Putters ($2,500+) are clearly some of the best designs in the industry IMHO!

    I am sure that I am in the minority here, I found my Scotty to be good but not great. I actually sold it to a buddy and went back to my Yes! Callie. I will admit that I was not fit for my Newport 2.5, I was only going off my use of the Callie. My Newport felt good but I never got the exceptional feel every brags about with it.

    Trying to avoid any bias here as a multiple Scotty Cameron owner, I believe they are some of the best in terms of design and feel, both very important aspects of a putter. That is not to say that some of the other putters on the market are sub-par to them since I think a nice B'nardi or some of the new S. More putters have a place in the world as well. 

    As a loyal Titleist enthusiast and player you will not find a different putter in my bag.

    Here's how you know Scotty Putters are great:  Tour players, guys that golf for a living, who could get PAID to use some other brand of putter, choose to use the Cameron because they know it'll putt the ball in the hole the best.

    I've had two Scottys - one was the terillium that needed lots of love, but had amazing feel. I replaced that with a center shafted prototype that has been in my bag since 2002. It still has amazing feel and balance. Not changing from my Scotty any time soon.

    I agree they are great putters. I have been using SC exclusively for the last 15 years. I'm a mallet guy and I tried to use a 2 ball once but it didn't last. The old Rossie's were some of the best when they first came out. I think there are definitely some nice putter makers out there but I just love my Cameron's and can't really see myself using anything else.

    It took me awhile to come around on a Cameron. My first putter was a used McGregor and somewhere south of $20 (US). A Scotty is less than a new driver, and most will spring for a new driver every 5 years or so. I expect a Cameron to last me longer than my marriages. Amortized over 20 years - it is not expensive. At that price, one must choose carefully ..(I should do the same with wives...). The only piece of equipment you use more than putter is a golf ball. I did get my wife a TM that was white. Well, just say the white chips easily. The lead tape on the bottom to approach the swing weight of a Go-lo is almost as ugly. I should do the right thing for her putter.

    I like my Squareback. Putting very well with it. Will be in the bag for quite a while.

    Many years ago, I was at an art faire in Beverly Hills.  They had an ice cream vendor who was selling designer ice cream that was 5 times more expensive than you could buy in the store.  Two very well heeled, Beverly Hills women were appalled at the price the vendor was charging for his ice cream.  They saw me enjoying mine and very curiously approached me.  "Is it worth it?"  One of the women asked.  "I'm worth it," I replied, as I smiled, licked my ice cream and walked away.  Therefore, in a long winded answer to your question, "Are you worth it?"  I bet you are, Joshua.  Keep rolling them in with Scotty blades!

    There are a lot of good putters craftsman out there and a putter is only as good as the person who is stroking it.  Scotty Cameron and his creations speak for themselves or they would not be part of the Titleist brand.  I own and game two, am very pleased with his Newport line as well as the results.  Look on the tour each week and see how many pros are playing his creations.  I think the answer is in the results.
