I have been thinking about having some steel putters "blacked out" by the Scotty Cameron shop.

Does anyone know how that process affects the value of the putter for collecting purposes?

Also, I assume if you have a putter customized with an inscription that would further diminish value.  Is that correct?

Initials always lower the resale price.

Adding a different finish can diminish value, but only if the putter was otherwise in perfect condition.

  3. The value is the eyes of the buyer...not the sellers....so I would say intials are a no no and the color could be a bump if they want a different finish that is not available readily...

    Good Luck!

I'm not an expert, but I don't see changing the finish affecting the value much, unless it's a valuable putter to begin with (like a limited edition or tour putter).  But initials or names will definitely kill the value.

    Don't customize with your name...

Choose the Scotty Icons like the Junkyard Dog or Jack Pot Johnny.

    You won' be Disappointed!
