Custom Paint-Fill for Newport Select

    I am in the process of stamping my Newport Select 2.0 (the one with the Black Mist finish). I am also trying to use different color on the stamping that came with it and this is what brings me to my question. I have tried to remove the paint from the original stamping with thinner, and paint remover and so far it's been nothing more than unsuccessful. Is there a better component to use to remove this fill? Also, I've heard that Young Brothers stamps are the way to go. Does anybody have other suggestions as to what I can get?

    Yeah, that would be the high quality craftsmanship people keep talking about. It's made to last!

    Were either of the solvents you used acetone based? If not, try that. Your wife/girlfriend might have some nail polish remover that contains acetone. Try borrowing a few drops and rub the spot with a cotton swab to see if it is lifting the paint. Not sure what affect it will have on the PVD finish though.

    With all of my DIY paintfill jobs to remove paint have been with only Acetone and don't use nail polish remover as it only contains about 10% Acetone. Scotty also uses Acetone to strip out old paint and for clean-up. Since you have a black finish on your putter and after the paint has dried and cured, if you have a Scotty oil cloth and wipe down the putter the finish will look great in a day or two.     Acetone works best, i made the mistake of using a "eco friendly paint remover" before on a honey California and it reacted with the red paint and honey finish and removed the finish around the red paint.

    Update. I ended up using acetone, although it was not as easy as to wipe it off with it as it was on the circles on the back of the head or the weights. I still had to use a toothpick to remove the paint from the small lettering. At least that part is done, thanks you all.

    Chris, I was thinking on using a table I have with a clamp. I used it for a wedge in the past and it worked just fine. Just had to place masking tape as that helped prevent ugly double stamping. If you have better suggestions I am super open to them.

    A toothpick after Acetone is what you have to use to remove all of the paint from small lettering or stamps. It takes time but you'll be happy with the results.
    Here's a picture of my DIY paint fill on a Mil-Spec. One nice thing is that I can easily change the paint fill back to the original colors.
