Gaming Rare Headcovers

  1. Happy Wednesday fellow TT'ers!

Just felt like getting something off my chest. For years, I've marveled at the beauty and craftsmanship of various Cameron head covers. For some, head covers are indelible keepsake that provide everlasting memories of major championships that we've attended. For others, they are a buy low, sell high investment strategy -- whereby every original detail is mothballed and shrink-wrapped to Smithsonian-level preservation standards.

Personally, I hate seeing so many unique and rare head covers never see the light of day for which they were originally intended (don't even get me started on circle T putters).

So it got me thinking -- are any of my fellow TT members gaming some rare head covers that they are particularly proud of and would like to show off on here?

    Thanks!

As of today, I have 347 headcovers. I cant think of one that hasn't made it on the bag. I think they should be gamed and let people see them. There is no telling how many times I've had a conversation started at a course because of a headcover.

I agree with you on putters as well, I have purchased a few just to keep them in the US. ( why don't you like CT's ) ??

I've had a Cameron in my bag since April of 97, collecting heavily since around '02. One thing I have learned in all of this time is, this is not an investment. Every " collector" that gets into this for flipping winds up taking a bath.

MY bag for this weekends TCC NOLA collectors event, not many "rare" covers. just what I like.

there is a thread with about 200 or so of my covers in it on here Have to finish my golf room and add the rest

Would love to see a pic of the 'Golf Room'...something I'm aiming for in the future!! That's a serious collection my man!!
  6. Oh I have nothing against CTs -- other than people buying them as investments and then never using them for their intended purpose. Overall, theres just too much craftsmanship that deserves to be celebrated, not moth balled.

Hulon, truly, simply AMAZING!!! Wow! You are an inspiration. I was thinking about a golf room also. If anyone has put one together, please share. Would love to see your collections and get ideas! Keep collecting, Hulon!

The most important thing is to NEVER - EVER let them leave your sight (from trunk to course and back to trunk)!

Have been asked before why I drive a Corvette in the winter. I say " Its mine. I paid for it " I did not buy to put under glass.

I’m an old (ish) mod who when not golfing likes to jump on my vespa for a wee spin or off to rallies so when I saw this headcover I just had to have it,it took me a while to find it for a reasonable kinda price and of course it had to be used straight away. Just like my scooter ridden not hidden.

I game all the head covers I have. They need to been seen
  13. I game all of my head covers. No use leaving them in a closet where no one will see them.
  14. I prefer to game rare head covers only when I wish to share them with others for fun...otherwise its fun to have them in a place at home to keep them as nice as possible for as long as possible. IMHO

Everyone probably has a different opinion on what's a rare headcover since that was the question. I have a few headcovers that I only use for special occasions. Mine aren't even really rare, one is a 1/42 another is 1/50 and another couple that I don't know the quantity. There are some covers that are really rare and worth more than $2k.

Todd hit the nail on the head there. I got the 07’ four leaf clover swiped right when it came out. Been looking for another, but for $250 I’ll just have to enjoy my others for now haha. Game them though! Always a good conversation with others who appreciate them.
  20. I have 6 Scotty head covers that I rotate. I know that there worth a few bucks but I got them because I like the looks and I want to game them.

I think if you buy it then you play it !
Like others have said they have too much time put in to them to be left on a shelf.
  22. I agree with most of you here. Buy it to enjoy it and game them. I only have nice blade headcovers and now using the 5MB mid mallet with stock cover. I wish Scotty wouod make more mid mallet covers. I find myself using my Newport just to game my headcover.
