My bro and I have one each also. He has the black and white like yours and I have the red and white. I might just game mine one of these days.

Very nice! Although I didn't appreciate the staff bags when I was caddying in high school!

That is one well maintained bag! I worked in a bag room in my youth and can certainly testify they are a little on the heavy side when you load them up with clubs, balls, umbrella, rain gear, etc.

Bought that bag in 1989. Used it for about 10 years. Was sitting in the garage. Gave it to my Godson when I moved to FL 8 years ago. Had 2 towel rings, one on each side. Wonder why they don't do that any more? They are made of plastic today, so how much could it cost to put on one more?

Great bag. Brings back memories. My dad was a club pro and used to game Hogaan Apex II's, so he always had the classic Red, white, and blue Hogan staff bag, but he played the Titleist ball. He had a great white leather (or vinyl) Titleist shag bag that I would always borrow to practice the short game. After getting back in to the game a couple of years back, I searched for the same "vintage" shag bag in Titleist or Hogan. Couldn't find one. Either no one has one, or no one is giving theirs up. They are a classic. It would sure bring back memories for me, but I resorted to the old classic Bag Shag in canvas with metal handle and bottom/tube. It works, but there is something about that old Titleist shag bag.

hi! i signed up for an account on here solely because of your post and this photo — this is literally the only photo of the exact bag that i inherited from my father (among an inordinate amount of other golf gear/memorabilia/equipment). i have been searching all over the internet and nothing matches exactly except this!

can you please tell me about this bag? this is real leather, right? when was it made?

My guess would be late 60's to mid 70's. I'm certain the bag is all leather, and heavy. I remember when I caddied in college, I carried a bag like that a few times, and they were really heavy. I'm not sure where it was made;more than likely at the Titleist/Footjoy plant in Fairhaven MA. Footboy made leather shoes there for years.

    thank you mike!

my father was born in 1955 — so the years fit. the bag is super heavy and bulky, and it definitely isn’t vinyl!

somebody on reddit told me that it can’t be real leather and from the 60s/70s bc titleist supposedly stopped making real leather bags then—no idea if that’s even true.

do you know anything abt how to get this properly appraised by an expert/shop?

My grandad owned a similar bag, it's from the late 80's/early 90's. It's made of artificial leather, like a vinyl material.

The two towel loops are a great idea, for when mounted on a trolley you can have a towel on your preferred side or a wet/dry towel on each side.
  18. All that leather...a medium sized cow should be so lucky!
