You do know that if a counterfeiter can make a club that looks almost identical to the real thing, they can also etch a number on a club that matches a number someone else has, right? Also, I believe until someone registers their purchase by sending the number to Titleist there is no tracking to prove authenticity. See the following link.

Thanks for the reply Dale. I am starting to wonder if all this hype about copying clubs is getting a bit over exaggerated.

It seems anyone who wants to sell their clubs must be selling copies. What's wrong with people who bought them new couldn't use them so chose to sell them at a reduced price to get rid.

Read a few cases on this forum with people with same problems and it seems to be a stock answer. Always buy from a Titleist retailer. What happens if you can't afford brand new Titleist and you need to buy second hand.

Just wondering, can I now register the clubs with titleist using the serial number on the club? Also should a magnet stick to the clubhead, face and shaft?

The registration site says "only clubs purchased within the year can be registered". The registration process is mainly for warranty purposes. Past models no longer in stock or not the original owner purchased from a Titleist retailer are usually not covered by their warranty. That said, nothing wrong with taking a risk on used clubs, especially if there is a budget issue. Just have to weigh the risks with the benefits and go with what works for you. Just don't post on this site how bad your experience is if the clubs crack or you have other problems with them. Hopefully, you have no problems and enjoy them just as much as a new set right out of the box.

I have always bought my clubs from an authorized retailer. As far as magnets, I own a Magnetic Lie Angle Tool which can be purchased from Golfworks for $12.99. It's a round magnet with a 12 inch rod attached which you stick on the center of the clubface and will show you the direction of the clubface at address. I've had mine for 25 years and it's stuck to every club I ever purchased, forged or cast.
