I think that it's too soon to judge. So far I don't have a problem with it but stay tuned.

Don’t think it comes to us in the uk till back end of the year , I’ve heard September time ‍♂️
  4. Disappointed it doesn't hit the UK until November

No worries. It give a more updated handicap index. Cheaters are going to post wrong scores regardless.

I think it will work out fine. I like that on the GHIN site you can enter hole by hole with stats. It kind of gives you a different perspective of your handicap.

My new 5.7 index give me 10 shots from the back tees, 8 from our blues, 6 from our hybrids and 4 from our whites???

Definitely different than before when I was a 6 or a 7 from all those tees.

I like the concept behind it. Factoring in specific set ups/conditions etc. is a wonderful change. I also like that the index is a floating number without bimonthly revisions. All in all I think it will make the system a bit more equitable.

While the concept has merit, I think the implementation may need some work.

    1) When the USGA updated the mobile app (Android for me) they did not carry the GHIN number over from the old app. This meant looking through old emails from our state association to see if I could find it.

    2) The USGA provided no instruction on how to enter your GHIN number in the new software. While this seems pretty straightforward, it really was not. My number starts with 0. You have always entered the 0 when entering your number. After repeatedly getting an error trying to login and multiple re-installs of the app, I tried entering the number without the leading 0 and all works fine. I did send an email to the USGA as the error instructed and to this day I have yet to receive a reply.

    3) The PCC functionality does not seem to be enabled. I have posted 10 scores this year. Not one of those has a PCC number associated with it.
  12. I can only think that long term this will be a very good thing but there will be pain getting there. I am interesting to know from the guys already using it, how easy is it to take your index away to a different course and work out what your handicap should be that day...?

Pretty easy. Just use the lookup feature in the new app, select the course and then the tees you are going to play. You course handicap is then shown.

There is one place I play that depending on the tees, I go from a 3 to a +2.
  14. Thanks for that... Unfortunately on the App I downloaded none of the UK courses are in so it's pretty pointless currently...
Frustrating, but I guess we will just have to be patient

Like the daily updated number. (Old trend)
Like the low 8 of 20 vs 10 of 20.
Have no idea how the “factoring for conditions” will work.
Not sure I like the max score “net double” v a double for groups I play with.
I’m sure I’m missing a few other nuances as my 5.6 index has me as a 9 from the black tees and a +2 from the furthest up.
