Is there any rules on the course or in your clubhouse that you would change if you could ?? If so , what rule ? And what would you change it too ?

  2. I would do whatever I could to speed up the pace of the game. It is not uncommon on courses near me for a weekend 18 hole round to take 5 hours.
It completely takes away from my enjoyment of the round and I've walked off courses several times.
So yeah, I would implement a shot clock, or alotted time spent on a hole. If not done, pick up and move on!
  3. Hats indoors and the showing a tattoos for clubhouse employees are big for me.

I would like to see divots treated as ground under repair, free relief. At least at my club, too many divots are improperly replaced or not filled with divot mix.

This has been long overdue and I vote for it.

Yep, this is definitely long overdue. You should be rewarded for hitting the fairway; never penalized.

Absolutely. Can't believe that the USGA didn't include this with the big rule overhaul of last year.

I agree, but a friend of mine once asked a USGA official about this and he stated the problem is how do you define a divot, and what stage of the divot healing would constitute relief for ground under repair. "oh there was a divot here two weeks ago, I get relief". Obviously the big fresh gauge is easy, but it gets tricky to define it...…..apparently according a random USGA rules official.

I don't like the new World Handicap Index. I knew what the max was for my score based on the range, now I have to calculate net double bogey. The USGA allegedly wants to speed up the game and make it more accessible. If it takes more than two seconds to fill out my score and I have to think about it, it's too long.

More specifically to my club, while they did semi-institute a starter finally, I wish they would enforce tee times a little more. More senior members have a habit of jumping my tee time.

Use the app on your phone as you play. Enter your actual gross score hole-by-hole and the app will make all of the adjustments for you.

Divots in fairway and pace of play! The pace issue can be helped if folks let faster players play through!

Would be nice if courses would buy decent rake and more than one per larger bunkers!

It's not a rule, but I wish the whole golf world was less expensive. Rounds, clubs, balls, clothes, everything. I think it would grow the game as well. I've worked at the same course for almost 25 years, and realize how much materials and labor cost. but I just can't justify the thousands we have to spend to just keep up.

Relief from divots always seems to crop up in this sort of discussion. But how do you define a divot? Look at a 2 square yard area on a fairway and you'll find lots at various stages of repair/disrepair - some are obvious, some less so.

    Too contentous for me!

I concur, divots in are not "rub of the land" in my opinion. Its a lazy "golfer" who played the hole before I did.

Another +1 for divot relief. A few holes at my club get especially bad near the end of a busy weekend, it's mostly a shot placement golf course and the fairways can get really narrow, so not much room to spread out.

For some reason I get no support when I suggest this, but OB (white stakes) should have the same penalty as a lateral hazard with the difference being you lose the option to hit out of the hazard (penalty area). Never been clear why a course boundary is any different than a water hazard.
  17. I realize I am answering a question with a question but, should we worry about changing the rules or get better at playing by the ones that already are in place? Just asking.
  18. I sympathise with the divot thing - particularly when you see birds turning over replaced divots looking for food - but unfortunately, as has been pointed out, it's firmly in the "Too Hard to Legislate" box.
