    About a week ago, a friend was telling me about a seven wood, but I said no I’m not interested in going that way and said I just needed another hybrid. Fast forward, today I was watching Webb Simpson talking about a seven wood in IG and how Jason Duffner plays it really nice. It made me think of my seven wood I owned briefly and now I am thinking of it. Webb Simpson said he asked Titleist for help on this and I couldn’t resist to pose a question both to the TT members and Titleist: what are your thoughts about seven wood and what are the chances of a seven wood offering in the future?

    I am for whatever helps an individual improve their game. If Simpson is for it and Dufner uses it then they may be on to something. It would really get public notice if those guys gave it credibility to winning a tournament.

    I find it is just as easy to get out of the rough with the 7 wood as it is with a hybrid.

    I’m with Jerry, if it helps you hit the shots and distances you need then all for it. I’m not sure what a 7 wood would compare to as far as a hybrid? Maybe a 3 hybrid?

    It really depends on how you define a 7 wood. Historically, a 5 wood was 21 degrees and a 7 wood was 24 degrees. Now, most of the 7 woods you find are no more than 22 degrees. A well respected and renowned Titleist fitter recommended a few years ago that I switch from a 21 degree hybrid to a 21 degree 5 wood. He explained that the latter provided a higher flight and better descent angle, at least for me. If that's the case for you, then I say go for it.

    Yes, sir, that is what I'm looking for- higher flight and a softer descent angle. On the 21* hy, it is not high enough for me nor is it long enough (63 this year). But you have narrowed it down for me without much research.

    Guys, Thanks a bunch for all your response. I'll be seeking for a fitting on a Titleist 7wood soon.

    The TS2 fairway wood is offered in a 21 degree loft, so, a 7 wood is available today (RH only)

    Had a 7 wood years ago and liked the high ball flight with a soft landing. I somehow managed to get fairly accurate with that club. It made its way into my son's bag somehow. I tried out hybrids but just couldn't find a way to justify buying them.

    At 21 degrees there is a choice of an iron, driving iron, hybrid, and fairway. The least likely option for most golfers is a standard iron (3 iron). Just like a rack set will be optimal for just a small number of golfers, there will be some that will be best served by one of the above. Guys in their 40’s like Duffner may not be winning with a 7W but they are open to use the best tools to keep them competitive. Moving from age 25 to 55, the best tools will be changing

    Yeah, yesterdays 5-wood is today's 7-wood. Mine is set to 22 degrees so whatever you want to call it, I like it better than the Hybrid, look and ball flight.

    Had a mate who bought a 7 wood to target a particular par 3. This, he confidently told us, was the answer. He had cracked it. The panacea to his nemesis hole. Perhaps.. even birdies awaited...
    First time out, he put 5 balls in the water in front of the green. The balls were immediately followed into the water by the (heaven) 7 wood.
    Never been tempted myself - I'm better with irons than woods

    Have any comparisons been made between a 21° hybrid and a 21° fairway? It would be interesting to see the pros/cons of both.

    As for myself, no, I have not done that side by side, but I do intend to.

    I am playing TS2 Driver, TS2 4 wood, 915F 7 wood, 818H1 4 hybrid. The 7 wood is 21*, 4 hybrid playing at 23* but the 7 wood is longer. I prefer the 7 wood off the t. I seem to have more confidence finding fairways with it then the hybrid. The only time i really use the hybrid is if I miss the fairway and the ball is sitting down a bit. This setup seems to be working well for me.

    Great discussion points about the 7 wood and also the 5 wood. I use a 20 degree hybrid but wonder if a 19 degree 5 wood might suit me better...

    Most of the fairways I've seen listed as 5W are 18 degrees or so.
