  1. What does everyone think about Augusta National potentially holding the Masters with no patrons? I think it wont affect viewing too much until the weekend. But I do feel bad for the people that have been trying forever to draw tickets and finally got them and then this could happen. Will it forever feel like an asterisk for whoever wins? Discuss.

It may have a strange feel to it but no way would it have an asterisk attached to it. However as a previous ticket lottery attendee, I do feel for those who got lucky this year. If cancelled, maybe Augusta National would grandfather those affected for 2021 even though it would knock me and others out of the box for next year.

Honestly, I prefer to watch golf on TV rather than being there. I DVR everything I watch and I can skip thru a lot of stuff that doesn't interest me. Shot tracers are pretty cool and you don't get that being there. Some of the TV announcers are pretty good too and add to the slow motion excitement of golf.

But I'd be pretty upset having tickets and motel accommodations made in advance for a tournament only to have to watch it by TV anyway. Especially the Masters or a US Open.

Like all professional athletes, PGA golfers thrill to the cheer of the crowds so it will probably be a little less exciting for the players. Some may not feel the same pressure without thousands of eyes watching. The guy's playing on tour are getting paid pretty well, as they should, I doubt that an asterisk would bother them much.

    This will all pass.
  4. Crap, I started a discussion in the "on tour" about this before I saw this post lol.

I think seeing the Masters with no patrons will be pretty cool to see, but for those who have tickets, I hope that doesn't happen. I saw on twitter that some people have heard rumblings about pushing to the fall - I don't see that happening. In my completely unprofessional opinion, I really see it getting cancelled in the near future. Especially if this thing keeps getting exponentially worse by the day.

I feel bad for those people who got the tickets an were planning on going. What an unfortunate situation. Maybe they'll move the even to the fall or something

We are not there yet. They have cancelled all tournaments until then. Think we should be more concerned about the safety of the patrons and the players. Everything else is insignificant. With respect.

I think it is being blown so far out of proportion. I understand the elderly and people are already sick are more at risk, but it is crazy how they are canceling everything known to man

I just saw on TV that they are postponing it, it is for the best I guess, but it sucks.

No worries. The Augusta National Club committee has postponed the Masters until further notice, the practice rounds, the par three event and the Women's Amateur. The course closes May thru September, so the temperatures could be similar in October. Will be up to the Augusta National Club committee. A good compromise for the safety of the players and the patrons.

I'm guessing that includes the Drive, Chip and Putt event for youth golfers.

I was looking at tickets on the secondary market about 10 days ago...prices dropped about 60% from asking prices about a month ago.

I live across the river from Augusta in SC. The postponement is a huge blow to the local economy. The trickle down effect is substantial as many people count on that week for a significant part of their income. Hopefully, the rescheduling will offset some of the losses. I suspect AGNC may have to buy out another event to find a suitable date.
  15. Sad to see that the Masters was postponed. Was really hoping that we could at least watch some golf in order to get a break from all the bad news.
