  1. A happy club.

I can't stand having dirty clubs. Everyone bangs on about the importance of clean grooves so why on earth would you not keep them clean.

I think you'd have to be bonkers not to clean them plus being part of #TeamTitleist I feel a sense of pride to keep them as shiny as humanly possible.

I always keep my clubs clean. I wet half of my towel when I get to the course to help getting the grooves clean. With the cost of clubs now the better care you take the longer they last and perform.

Guy I played with in college was a caddie for a couple years, had to educate so many players on cleaning clubs after every shot. He started meeting players on the range to clean clubs, guys would act surprised when the ball didn't go where expected or spin less on clean strikes, and their clubs hadn't been cleaned in years.

Absolutely! One of my weekend golfing buddies always has the dirtiest clubs. The grooves are full of dirt and sand. Even after taking a practice swing the club will be covered with junk and he goes on to hit his shot with all the crap on the club. I’ve told him he should clean them off but he doesn’t care to I guess. And he wonders why he shoots over 110 every time. Take some pride in your equipment the same way you’d like to take pride in your game.

Clubs are always kept clean, for performance and to maintain their looks. I find the whole process enjoyable, I know once they're clean they look like new and perform like new.

The word you're looking for for those who never clean their clubs - lazy. They love golf but they're too lazy to deal with anything outside of swinging the club on the course. Probably the same type that don't repair their pitch marks or divots.

I soak the bottom third of my towel with soapy water. Wipe clubface and the grip after each shot. Grips get a residue so the soapy water keeps them tacky.
  12. Have always taken pride in my equipment... my self... my home... my clothes... you get my point. Clean is the new order of the day! It speaks to who you are. If you take care of them, they will take care of you.

I carry a small spray bottle with water and a Frogger brush. I use it immediately after every shot (as long as no one is waiting on me). Then, every evening when I get home from the course, I truly enjoy sitting in the garage with the door open (watching the sunset) cleaning each club thoroughly, reminiscing of the shots I made earlier in the day with each. On days when it is colder or not as nice outside, I take the whole bag inside to the kitchen sink and clean them each there, one by one. I don't understand how anyone can play golf well with a dirty club.

BTW, just as important, every couple weeks, I give the grips a good scrubbing too, especially during warmer months, when I don't use gloves. (I also change my grips 3 or 4 times a year, depending on the club, but that's for another thread!)
  14. ...therapeutic. I enjoy how relaxing it is to clean your set of clubs, a good way to decompress.

Jeff, that is an interesting story and an amazing one. The purpose of the grooves is to get spin on the ball and if there is dirt in the grooves well......you know what might happen. I always keep my grooves clean.

    Fred,
I couldn't agree more with you!

How can you expect that golf ball to perform at it's best, with dirty grooves.
