  1. This post will be in two parts, a bit about how I’m feeling at the mo. and secondly about how I cheered myself up. For at least a short time today.

I write this just before I head off to a night shift in the fire service. In these horrible uncertain times, I was told yesterday after 22 years’ service. Most of which as an aviation firefighter that most of us will be let go in the coming weeks. Absolutely gutted is an understatement. I am 40 years young and was hoping for many more years in a job I love. Fingers crossed something changes soon.

So, a break from my worries I headed off to Gleneagles this morning. This is something I paid for a while ago and with the course open myself and playing partners said let’s go for it.(separate cars and took all precautions we could today) I took some stick from some for heading out and for spending money on something when I was looking at losing my job, but in one hand I thought, I might not get the chance for a while.(Some pics bellow of my drive) but after my tears last night a drive in beautiful Scotland, music on and then to play one of the best courses around in one of the most beautiful places in the world was just what I needed. My Titleist sticks never let me down today either I played well although the score wasn’t important today. I think that will be them put away for a few weeks now.

golf can really give you a break from things at times. Take care all and stay safe.

  2. I’m sorry to hear what you are going through. Here in the states firefighters are heroes and what kids aspire to be growing up. My church even bakes for our local dept every year as a thanks. Glad to hear you went through and played your round, although you couldn’t shave one more stroke to break 80! Golf is therapeutic, so intricate that it demands your full attention, which in turn takes your worries away even if for a moment. Hoping and praying for you and what you are going through sir.
