  1. Hello all this is my first entry. Yay. I’m going for a iron set fitting when things get better. I play hand me down swoosh coverts right now. I’m a 6 handicap but not very smart about what is best for my game. I’m gonna go in with a open mind and see what is best. As of right now my club head is doing a reverse whip motion on the way down. I just recently saw this in videos I was taking and looked back and sure enough it’s been there. Is there anything I should tell the fitter? Or just kind of what I just typed. I’ve never been fitted. I’m nervous and excited at the same time. Thanks all

Welcome Chris! When it comes to a fitting all you need to do is relax, have an open mind and let the fitter do all the work. They are the expert and will be able to help you out. Depending on what all you want to get fitted for they will have you hit your current clubs. This way they can get an idea of what your current setup is and where to start with new stuff. They will determine what type of shaft works best for you to give you the best numbers for that specific club. If there’s something you don’t like or feel comfortable with don’t be afraid to speak up. You should like what you’re hitting and it should feel good and sound good to you. Have fun and enjoy the experience!

I've been to three fittings which were all excellent experiences. The best was a wedge fitting which got me hitting more greens and closer to the pin. Make sure you do a good warmup before starting the fitting. My fitters have watched my swing, used the numbers from electronic gadgets, and made good recommendations. Once you completed the fitting and make changes to what's best for you, you'll have more confidence in your bag of tools. Have fun at it, keep an open mind, and enjoy.

You won't need to say much. They will watch your swing, put together some clubs, you will hit those and from there they will narrow down shafts to fine tune the dispersion of your shots. It is a simple process (as the golfer), just hit balls and let them know how it feels and they will evaluate the data! Well worth doing!
  5. Ignore the "front whip" its an illusion that appears from the camera being used. Used to be common to see, but better camera's got rid of the effect. As far as your fitting goes, do some research on the current model clubs you will likely be trying, focus on looks, feel, sound then onto trajectory and distance control. Let your fitter handle the technical information and use their recommendations, if the results are there and your fitter is satisfied, go ahead and trust their recommendation - no need to go down the rabbit hole of a dozen or more different iron shafts. If the results aren't to your liking, go back a different day and re-hit the one's you liked and see if things improve.

No reason to be nervous! Just go there and hit shots the same way you always do and the fitter will help you get into the best clubs for you! Good luck, let us know how it goes!

Hi Chris and welcome to Team Titleist. I had a Titleist Thursday fitting last year, best thing I have ever done. I strongly recommend you go down this route, no need to be nervous just book the day and turn up , your Titleist fitter will do the rest. There is no hard sell jus a printed sheet or email with a list of their recommendations. Let us know how you get on.

  8. Hey Chris, welcome aboard! First off, don’t worry about the shaft, the “flexing” you see in the pic is a result of your camera’s shutter speed. The golf shaft is not actually bending like that. As far as what to tell your fitter, just be honest with them. A good fitter will ask all the right questions to help find you the perfect set up. Good luck

A couple of things, first, welcome to Team Titleist. Hope you have a good time here interacting with others. Your shaft “load and kick” is not unusual and always looks strange when viewed as a still or slow motion shot. The fitting will pick up on key points at impact to determine how the shaft kick can be maximized for your swing. Suggest you read some of the posts in the Club Fitting category on this site where this topic best fits. Good luck and have fun.
