Here in the Midwest fall is in full swing. Temperatures are falling as are the leaves on the trees. Just a question for you all. Do you change golf balls in fall? I have switched to Titleist TruFeel. If I lose one under some leaves I don't get as upset as I would if I lost a Pro V. I have also changed to a yellow ball to help visibility against the dark cloudy days. Anyone else make any ball changes during the fall?

Maybe change the color because of the leaves, but not the type/make/version!
  3. I did switch to tour speed as it was new and plan on sticking with them.

Think I might have been Titleist that wrote an article regarding no need to change the golf ball with the changing of the seasons. I have always played the same Prov1 golf ball the year round. Golf ball is a game of feel, why change. Most golf courses do a good job keeping the leaves blown away from the playing area, because leaves do harm towards maintaining the growth of the grasses. At least our guys do at the muni. Prevents roots from getting proper oxygen and keeps the ground wet longer. Golf magazine has a lot of online information regarding proper yard and course maintenance.

Don't quite have the same problem in San Diego but I do take a few yellow balls to Bandon or anywhere else I might play in misty or foggy conditions. Even here an early morning can get pretty foggy from spring through mid summer. The yellow sure helps in low-visibility conditions.

I don't make any changes to the ball during Fall or any other season. I feel that the pro v stands up in all conditions and feel that it would be difficult to adjust to characteristics of a different ball rather than hitting different clubs or shot types in the cooler air.

Round White ones or Yellow. Just joking.... lol

I quit changing balls years ago. I used to play NXT Tour S when the weather turned colder here in Kansas. But for the last several years I just keep playing my Pro V1's. keeps cost down as I only need to buy 1 ball type & I only play white golf balls as well.....

I tried it once with the yellow ball for winter (California) as the grass loses its color, it's easy to spot the ball. I also tried it once with the AVX which gave me the few yards loss from lower temps. But I really miss my Pro V1. It was nice and fun to have tried it different balls, but I'll take the small adjustments with the white Pro V1 like I've had for many years.

In the fall I usually play the yellow AVX to help find it. Once temps really drop, I play the "retired" AVX from throughout the season

I play both the Pro V1 and AVX year-round depending on wind and weather. During the warmer months I like white AVXs and white ProVs, though I'll use yellow when my playing partners are all using white, just so my drives stand out from theirs. (They don't have to wait to be disappointed until they reach their balls to realize the furthest one out there isn't theirs. They can see from 150 yards away that the yellow one out in front is mine! LOL!)

Generally speaking, when the wind is up a little, or my swing is off a bit, I play the AVX. Overall, it's about 60% AVX/40% Pro V in summer. In the early spring, fall and winter (or anytime the temps are below 70) I generally use a yellow AVX. Every now and then, when there is no wind, I may play a Pro V1 in yellow during the winter, but I find my distance to be better with the AVX most days. I certainly average more roll on the harder conditions in the winter with AVX, primarily due to the lower ball flight and less spin.
  11. I like to stick to the same white ball year round. With the myriad colors of the leaves in the fall, to me white actually stands out.

If a ball trickles into/under the leaves it's difficult to find no matter the color therefore for the fall I stay with white. When the grass goes dormant I usually switch to yellow as it stands out better. My wife plays a matte green ball that "pops" on the dormant grass. It looks great and is super-easy to spot but I'm not a fan of that ball for my game...

Definitely went yellow this year! Helps with the leaves...and if you get stuck behind a slower group during an afternoon round and the sun starts to set its a huge help!

I save up any of the balls i use throughout the summer that I'm lucky enough not to lose. If they hit a tree or a cart path and aren't as appealing to look at for some reason. Then i use them in the fall and spring the next year when its easy to lose one somewhere
  15. When the temperature drops, I tend to go to a Velocity. The lower air temp affects the ball so I try to gain a few yards back with the distance ball. They are also somewhat cheaper and I'm less troubled to lose a few. I'd be peeved to lose AVX's.
