    Good day all,

I am coming off a frozen shoulder injury (it has been a long 10 months…). My swing feels a bit weak and I was thinking about purchasing a weighted club to increase strength and flexibility. Do any of you folks use one? Any recommendations?

I have two questionable shoulders myself, one (the left one) of which I had surgery on awhile back for rotator cuff tear. Part of rehab was to make sure I did not get any frozen shoulder. Scar tissue can contribute to it. I do serious stretch sessions nearly everyday, but definitely just before leaving for the course on the five or six days a week I play. Been doing it for years now. So I kind of get where you're coming from, even though frozen shoulder is slightly different.

IMO, Orange Whip is better than a weighted club. Doing my research way back when, I learned that weighted clubs, or donut weights can have negative results, so I decided on the Orange Whip instead. These days, I mostly use mine on the range before hitting 10-20 balls before playing. I also use it at home when feeling stiff in general to loosen up everything. Oh, yeah, and YOGA! That helps tremendously, too.

Must all be working, 'cuz I'm still getting the ball out there respectably, for a man of a certain age!

Couldn't agree more with Doug. Work with a sports therapist for a routine involving stretching/exercises to stabilize the shoulder along with my favorite - and only - training aid, the Orange Whip.

Best of luck on your recovery!

I have been out of the game for twenty years and started with a trainer to Increase flexibility and strength and I would say that was essential. Been doing it for about 4 years or so with a torn miniscus In between. Huge help to have the trainer as I re-established golf muscles.

Also got an orange whip, which has really helped with swing tempo and strength. Highly recommend.

I also like the orange whip. Along with helping get stretched out, I think it helps with my swing tempo. You have to swing it in proper rhythm to get the effect.

Hope all goes well with you getting back out there and if you feel any pain don't rush it. I had left rotator cuff surgery back in March 2019 and almost rushed my return back to golf but my PT was really good about making me wait. She incorporated some specific exercises/movements for golf.

I have an Orange whip and it is outstanding for getting my old joints loosened up prior to a round. Best of luck!

Like others have posted, I too use the Orange Whip. Not only is it good for strength and mobility but also lost tempo for not playing in a long time.

I had shoulder surgery for a torn rotator cuff and torn labrum. The Orange whip and the super speed swing trainer system are the best swing aides I have ever used. I use them both daily and they have made a huge difference. Heavy weighted clubs have been proven to be counterproductive and can mess up your swing and shoulder. I would start light, not heavy, in my opinion. Good luck and feel better!
