When I go home to visit family, I go to a driving range that offers TopTracer. Costs me $10 for the cost of a large bucket and can work on my game and get instant feed back by club. Might consider looking for a range in your area that offers TopTracer vs dropping a couple of grand. With respect.

Theres nothing like that around here unfortunately. The other justification, if it's accurate, is I can have a driving range right in my backyard hitting into a net, and I can bring it in the garage in the winter and do it there as well. So it's a year round deal, buy I don't wanna waste money if its not accurate. I think within 4 or 5 yards would be accurate enough

I'm sure you've checked out the VC Swing Caddie SC300 Portable Launch Monitor already, but if not, maybe it is a good alternative. From what I have seen, it's fairly accurate. Don't have one personally, but it is on my "consideration" list.

There are many YouTube vids out there reviewing the SC300, which you will have no problem finding. From what I have seen, it's quite an impressive little unit at an affordable price. If I wasn't trying to come up with the funds for a new TSi driver, 3W and hybrid so badly, I'd already own an SC 300.!

I have the VC200. It is what it is for the money. Very accurate, but doesn't always pick up shots.
I bought it for exactly the reason you did. Great for range, backyard net, garage in the winter, and zeroing in on yardages.
I was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy for the money. But if you are expecting the features and data of GC quad, you will be disappointed.

I bought the Flightscope Mevo ($499) for myself last month. Always hitting in the garage when I have a chance and always fun to see numbers. I live in NH and the garage is not really insulated so it's usually in the 40's but I do have a little heat warmer next to me that keeps me warm so wearing shorts and a hoodie keeps me warm. Anyways, the cold weather affected the results. My neighbor had a cheap launch monitor that only provided swing speed and carry and we compared in the garage and got same results so I knew the Mevo was fine. So booked an hour at an indoor simulator to do some more testing. The indoor Simulator and Mevo were very close. So..

1) Cold weather is real. I'm not a long hitter, 7 iron in my garage on mevo avg. 123 yards. 7 iron indoor simulator as well as the mevo, avg. was 148 yard. BIG difference. Also swing speed, ball speed, big difference.
2) Besides the cold weather deal, I thought the Mevo was great. Picked up the numbers quick and very easy to set up and use.
3) Ended up returning it ONLY b/c I can only use it in the garage and it's more of a mental thing "122 yards?!?! WHAT THE!" If you know what I mean Can't be swinging outta my a**.

Only bring this up b/c it looks like ya from Michigan so something to keep in mind but not sure where you would set it up. I've heard Mevo + is great for the cost as well, right up there with Skytrak. Good Luck!

It really comes down to how you want to use it. I have an ESB1 for much of the same reason as Speedy, although I can live with the 7 iron not going 150 yards. At an outdoor range from a heated shed, it captured 100% of the balls hit higher than 24 inches off the ground. The parameters were well within 4-5 yards, based on what a local Top Tracer was capturing. I will be using in the garage, but even that is now running far below 32 degrees with the vortex running in single digits. The net I ordered came in with the cold weather. The reviews for the SC-300 has some issues finding shots, hence the ESB1 choice. It does work best when paired with a tablet, but limited to Apple products.

The $2000 models can also do simulations indoors. The $500 models are really to enhance what you are doing with your swing. So long as you understand the limits in each price range from a $25,000 Trakman, they are amazing what they can do for the bucks. With only a portable setup in the garage, a simulation mode wasn't practical.

Interesting note on the cold weather! Better keep the balls and clubs indoors!

Just to make note that I'm not ignoring this thread, I am meeting up with as local guy that has one on Sunday. I'm gonna see how it goes. I'm also going to meet up with a flightscope rep and he's gonna let me demo it at a facility. I will report back with my findings and how they compare to my readings from the trackman and xgolf. Fwiw, the trackman and xgolf are almost identical in readings
