Can't offer contacts. The Division 1 teams tend to recruit the top players so if they haven't called, not much chance.. At least at the schools that are the powerhouses of the National playoffs. Division 2 schools may offer partial rides. Worse case, D-3 schools may offer on campus jobs to go with being on a team. In any event, when your parents won't move to FL to put you in a golf academy, you will need to put in lots of effort mixed with a lot of rejection to uncover that one nugget to play golf with some financial aid. Put together a portfolio of your career, find someone - a coach or local pro - to provide a letter of introduction, and be prepared to send dozens if not hundreds of inquiries. Best of luck.

If the goal is to keep playing and have golf pay for some of your tuition, D3 is an option. They will give you "academic" scholarships in order to get players into the school. A lot of these schools have endowments and are hurting for enrollment.
I played football at a D3 and got these scholarships. I had no business getting an academic scholarship. The negative of good D3 schools is they tend to be high priced, so net you aren't coming out ahead from a cost perspective.

You probably have already considered this but I would suggest you consider "second level" schools. You can aways transfer later but you will be more likely to get a scholarship and more playing time. I am originally from Texas so Texas Wesleyan, Abilene Christian, Dallas Baptist, UT San Antonio to name a few. NCAA II or NAIA schools. Good Luck.

I am sure that you have already checked thru your HS golf coach and guidance counselor? That is most likely your best bet. Best of luck. Sometimes smaller schools are a good avenue for a couple of years, build your game and resume, then consider trying to transfer to a bigger school such as OK St or AL, who turn out a lot of touring pros. Chick Evans Scholarship - best scholarship there is. Unfortunately if you are a current HS Senior, probably missed the deadline by now.

How Do I Become Eligible for the Evans Scholarship?

Applicants for the scholarship must have a strong caddie record, excellent grades, financial needs, and outstanding character. You must have caddied successfully and regularly for a minimum of two years and are expected to continue to caddie at your respected club when applying. In the classroom, you must complete your junior year of high school with a B or above average. Applicants also need to display character, integrity and leadership.

Applications are available beginning on August 1st, and are available at the beginning of a student’s senior year of high school or freshman year of college. Evans Scholarship applications will receive full consideration when the directions below are followed accurately and completely.

Chuck - that is great to see they are available to college freshmen as well, not sure if that is a new policy, i got my Evans Scholarship in 1997 and thought it was only open to hs seniors.

The pro I take lessons from went to a community college in Florida. You might look into those and see what kinds of tuition assistance they have. Being a club pro probably won't make you rich but it wouldn't be a bad job if you like the game and don't mind long days thru the summer. Look into going to a teacher college, take the summers off and play golf all summer. I wasn't much help, but I'll cheer ya on.

If you have not contacted some of the coaches in the PSAA ( conference of DII schools in Pennsylvania ) , it might be a good place to start. Fred Joseph at IUP is a friend , who coached IUP for over 30 years but is now the volunteer asst. coach is an aquitance of mine from their participation in the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate.

I would suggest the small college or JUCO route. I have a niece that used that route for a couple of years and then transferred to a larger school.

If your grades are solid you can also look for academic scholarships.
