Low 3/4 dead hand punch shots with abbreviated follow thru (much more fun when you have to go under tree branches);downhill left to right putts;intentional hooks around trouble with mid irons; bump and run shots.

Off the tee, pitch and chip around the green and my putter.....my irons from the fairways leave a lot to be desired.

Unfortunately the guys in my foursome are much better golfers than me, but I've got a few favorites.

    1. Tee shot on the second hole at Lakeridge that skipped across the pond and stopped four feet from the hole (missed putt).
    2. Second shot to the ninth green at Wolf Run that I pured and overshot the green by 20 yards but hit a curb in the parking lot and bounced back to the top of the green (2 putt par).
    3. Shot of Fireball on the back nine (most courses) to calm the nerves (rumored to prevent covid too).
    4. Tee shot on the 3rd at Washoe that hit the knoll front right of the green and kicked back and rolled into the hole (my first ace).

And people wonder why I love this game!!!

That's a hoot. This is the greatest game ever invented. You can smile at least 18 times every round.

    1. Putting: long putts to the short knee knockers.
    2. Bump and runs onto the green.
    3. The 100 yard wedge to the green.

  10. Andrew A

    Andrew A

    - Length off the tee
    - Hit long irons that land softly
    - Low wedge spinner from 80 yards in
    - Bunker chunck and run for par save

For me it's the 60* wedge game. My 60* is pretty much my favorite club in the bag.

The main shots are 90yards and in but also the flop (which a lot of guys can't hit for some reason), the low skipper with monster spin that gets me within feet of the pin (if not in), chip and run and the sand game.

This wedge gets me out of the trouble some of my other clubs (read talent) puts me in.
  12. Length off the tee
    Hooks and slices around trees
    Wedge 80 and in
Putts on 18 that have to go
  13. Darryl M

    1. Playable tee shot, I miss to the left 37% of the time & only 26% to the right. They miss left , then miss right

    2. Iron play, distance of my irons are a strong part of my game.

    3. Anything around the green, pitch shots, chip shots. 8I-56W I'll use to get it done

    4. Putting, I'm more accurate than they are & don't freak out over any putt on the green from 2ft - 50ft for the win.

Not a shot but the biggest thing is: My mind, I am more mentally in tune with my round & game then they are & I don't get frustrated or rattled during a round. That's how I avoid the big numbers they don't avoid.

I'm not very good at times but still overall the better player out of our foursome. Currently went back up to a 15 Hdcp so far this year.

My 4-some loves me when I....
    1. Snap hook a drive off the face of the earth
    2. Follow that up with an overly exaggerated compensatory slice off the other face of the earth
    3. The dreaded great drive with 80 yards left - that approach goes only 30 yards
    4. The missed short putt to win points

This is why they like playing with me.
  15. The first is usually everyone of my shots...I’m a lefty. I would have to say my wedges are my strongest part though when stack ranked to my typical foursome. I flop often, or use up to 4 different wedges when they typically bump and run with a 7 iron to save strokes.

Dales's shots, yes sir! They're also some of my favorites :-)

Anyway, other favorite shots are in memory bank from some years ago in no order:

Playing in a match- a nice guy who could crush a ball all day was scary, we come to hole #5, a par 5 with water and OB in play- 579y on the card. Needless to say that my opponent tried and missed left of the green in two while I had 120ish to a front pin- the trusty Vokey50* did what I had hoped to have and it ended just below the hole. (I miss that wedge!)

At another time, I was short sided in a long par three left, of a greenside bunker. I never thought I could pull it, but an open blade 58* in a healthy rough gave me a chance for a par from 5'.

This one was pretty funny at the time... first time playing that course and my approach missed the biggest green on the course and got me to mid/top left of green on a knoll with low rough, the hole is cut in middle right. I couldn't putt because one of the greenside bunker fingers was in the way so I opted for the chip, but I pushed it 3 yards right- not knowing how severe the slopes were- it came back and went in the hole.
It is a favorite not because it went in the hole from an error, but because the error taught me a lesson to take a little time to survey- I thank the bad shot for teaching me something. Fast rounds or three hour rounds aren't always the best.

Not long, but my favorite drive is a baby draw.

Driver.-Not long but always in play
Bump and run.- Not always a tap-in left, but not chunked or bladed across the green like those who always try to loft it to the hole.
Texas Wedge.- 6 or 7 feet off the green and no transition on our low cut, against the grain Bermuda? Give me the flat stick every time.
  18. Guy W

    Guy W
    Statesville, NC

Don't have four but do have a few that keep me in it.
    - 50 yard pitch shot to usually within a couple feet
    - greenside chip to within a foot usually (if I don't chunk it)
    - long range lag putt ( I especially like double breakers for some reason)
  19. Bentron

    Bentron

BIG OL FLOP SHOT with a 60 degree.
