Muni is a movie about my home course, the Asheville Municipal Golf Course. You can find it on YouTube and I believe Netflix. The course was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1925. This movie focuses on a Professional tournament called the Skyview which was a mainstay in the United Golf Association (UGA). The UGA was comprised of African American professionals who until 1960 weren’t allowed to play in the PGA. The Skyview continues to this day and will be held in July 2021. I think most golfers love their “Muni” and would enjoy this movie for a variety of reasons.

It was shown on Golf Channel about a month ago. I liked it and I thought it was well done.

I look for a good muni when I travel. I play at the City of Charleston Municipal Golf Course in a senior men's group three days a week. Our course was built in 1929 and complete a makeover last year. Additionally all the bunkers and greens were redone with Seth Raynor characteristics, very similar to the Country Club of Charleston and Yeamans Hall Country Club which were built in 1927. Saw the movie on the golf channel. Worth watching.
  5. Thanks for the tip John, I will look for it. I grew up playing at a private club, but now play regularly at Mohansic, one of the Westchester County public courses. I always look for a public course to play when travelling which will hopefully be happening again soon.

John, thanks for the recommendation. I enjoyed "Muni" very much. I hope to have the chance to stop by and play that course someday was one of the the thoughts that ran through my mind when I was watching it. The other was the thought when I was in Las Vegas a couple weeks ago when a young black golfer noticed my Titleist cap and he spoke about playing at the APGA briefly. I didn't know what it was, but when I was watching this movie, I thought about it and wondered if it were related, but not. All these or to hear about all these are cool to me.

Anyway, I'm also one of the guys who loves our muni and I can't wait till they open the city tournaments again.

Thanks for posting this. I missed this when it aired and found it on YouTube. Great stories and there's a lot golf history in that course.
