  1. A big shout out to Titleist and Kevin Sprecher for the fitting at Sleepy Hollow. Shot my career round today, 70 at West Hills CC in Middletown, NY. My TSi2, T100s and Vokey Wedges made it seem effortless.

Five thumbs up......savor this moment. How many years have you been playing?

  9. Hi Chuck,

Thanks, I am still on cloud nine and probably will be for a while. I first started at 10, 52 years later I guess I found out it is never to late! I must say this year I have probably put more work in on my game than I have for 30+ years. I guess Ben was right, the secret is in the dirt. Not to mention in the TSi2, T100s, Vokey and ProV1. By the way, love Charleston!

Congrats! Here's one to the older guys!
  11. Thanks Rick, have to give the young guys something to think about!
  12. Thanks Frank, actually I did come from a pretty good junior program. We had tournaments every Monday when the club was closed, and I ended up working there in the pro shop when I was old enough. Except for four years of putting the clubs down in college, too much wine, women and song, I have been playing all my life.
Unfortunately it has taken until now to just let the game come to me. Older and wiser I guess, and much more enjoyable. Take care!

WOW!! Way to go. I don't know if years playing has anything to do with it. I first played in 1966 and shooting a 70 will only happen in my dreams. If there was the junior programs and course access to juniors back then that there is now, things may have been different. As it was, no one even showed me the proper way to even grip a club. I had to figure things out for myself. As a result, I have a lovely over the top swing. I took some lessons in my late 30's and early 40's. Got my grip straightened out, which helped out a lot and cut down my backswing. So here I am, 68 and retired, playing 3 times a week from the forward tees. Can't hit it far but can hit it fairly straight. Mid 80's is my game, but I enjoy the heck out of it. Again, congrats on your 70. Fantastic!
