Well stated! I work at a golf club, and we host many outside events. A high proportion of them are fundraisers for charitable foundations. Each time I work with the clients to organize their golf events, I am reminded that there are many individuals who have had very tough times. It is humbling to be able to assist these people and their events as they work to assist others in memory of friends and family who have not had an easy go.

One that is particularly touching is an event (actually two) that our club hosts annually for veterans of post-911 military activities/wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. All of the veterans have given so much of themselves, both mentally and physically. It's a small thing that we can do to give them a day of some recreation and thanks.

Interesting you should mention Peppermint Patty. In the cartoon her best friend was Marcie, who always referred to Patty as Sir. Elise Gallaway served as the model for Marcie and Elise lives two doors down from us and is a very dear friend of ours. Interesting world. Like the other Chuck I too love my dog.

Thanks for the post Chuck, and thank you for your service to our country. We all complain about a bad round from time to time, but in reality, how fortunate we all are to be (mostly) healthy enough to play this great game on a regular basis, and also to share and express our thoughts on golf with like minded folks within this forum.
