To play your best, you have to learn from the best (and watch the best!). One of our favorite coach and player combos shared a little gold from one of their recent working sessions.

Check out this tip from Butch Harmon and Titleist Brand Ambassador Danielle Kang on how to get more hip turn in your backswing and then give it a go at your next range session.

Fantastic drill! I’ve also heard this is one of Greg Norman’s key drills. Keep them coming!
  4. Butch Harmon always keeps it simple and to the point. He makes it easy to understand to do, to understand, and to achieve almost instant improvements. Thanks

In 1965, I was stationed in Alaska and saw a guy walking through the barracks with a set of golf clubs. I'd seen him before but didn't know his name. I asked him where he was. He said " at the golf course". I looked at his name tag....Harmon". I said, "There was was a Pro at Winged Foot who won the Masters, Claude". "That's my Dad ". To shorten the story, we went to the driving range a few times and all I can say is he had more tips than a bartender on New Years Eve. We went to Vietnam together in 1966 and although I looked for him at 2 PGA Tournaments in NJ & NY, we never saw each other again. I highly recommend his book "The Pro". He's a heck of a coach. Someday we'll cross paths again.

Such a great story! A really good friend of mine was stationed in Alaska with “Butchie” in the Army. They played golf and cards together. Were you also in the Army at that time?

That is one of the things I am working on and have been for the last couple of months. You can practice this drill in-doors next to a door frame. Keep your rear against the door frame thru the back and down swing.

Emily, thank you for posting this drill.

I like the straightforward simple approach of this drill.

I developed a wicked snap hook to the left with my driver this summer. As you can imagine, my game started to really suffer. I tried everything I knew, aim to the right, open the club face. These worked for a few swings but the snap hook kept coming back.

Got some advice from my pro on opening my shoulders and this helped, but on the range one day he noticed I was was not turning my hips. He gave me the same advice, maybe not in the same words but Right Pocket Back (RPB) is great.

My snap hook disappeared and I am hitting it farther than ever.

Good tip and drill. Now, if I only had the flexibility of Danielle Kang......
