  1. What irons do you recommend for me (14 year old) if I am going to continue golfing through high school and hopefully improve. I am hesitant about getting fitting because I’ve only been golfing for 7 months and my swing is still changing. What are your guys ideas.

Work with a teaching pro and when he feels that you are ready for a fitting go see a fitter. A good fitted set of clubs will actually help you improve your game.

A 12 HCP and only been doing it for 7 months. That's impressive

If you’ve only been playing for 7 months and already a 12 handicap, you obviously have some real talent. Chuck’s advice is spot on. Whatever you’re using now is working and I would get advice from a pro or your high school coach on when to get fit. Good luck!!
  5. Sam,

As usual, Chuck has some sage advice. If you haven't already, take some lessons from a teaching pro to help you develop some consistency in your swing, then definitely get a fitting. I had my first fitting last year after 50 years of playing golf. I was able to drop several strokes off my game almost immediately.

Congrats, after 7 months and a 12HCI is quite impressive.

As others have mentioned, working with an instructor to help guide would be the best bet, however being 14 you are likely still growing so spending a good amount of money at this stage may not be the best. When I was that age I went through 3 sets (all hand me downs) between 12-18 because of growth, muscle development, etc. Just throwing it out there.
