I am struggling with elbow issues in both elbows. I am considering graphite shafts to help absorb some of the shock. Anyone else using graphite to help with this and has it helped? I have already had right elbow scoped and will need funny bone nerve moved to get it out of a pinch eventually but holding off as long as possible.

I haven't tried the graphite shafts (my guess is you're mainly talking about graphite shafts for your irons and wedges since most of us are using graphite shafts for our woods, hybrids and drivers).
I suffered from tennis elbow (that's what the Dr diagnosed) and I used Theraband exercises which eliminated a lot of the discomfort. I have the ProjectX LTZ shafts for my T100s.

I moved to graphite more for arthritic hands and wrists. I find it helps me. So far the elbows have not been an issue. Hopefully you find some relief so you can keep enjoying this great game. Best wishes.

Hey Don I too suffered from chronic "golfers"elbow, finally had it surgically repaired and am using the Aerotech Steelfiber shafts in all my irons, wedges and metal woods. Really like the feel of them, also I apply a CBD cream before each session or round that is wonderful for any inflammation. My two cents...ct

Yep, both elbows here too. My chiropractor has been very helpful in treating it. My last fitting did lead to a shaft change, but I’m still hitting steel. I have some swing faults (like hip stall) and I’ve read that can be a big contributor to the tendinitis and irritation that we’re feeling.

Hope you get feeling better soon.

+1 on the chiropractor diagnosing and fixing my elbow tendonitis issues (golfers' AND tennis elbow in both arms). The therapy was not pleasant, involving scraping scar tissue along the forearms, but took only 4 sessions of hell to completely eliminate the pain. I mentioned the issue to my TPI instructor, who has me doing strengthening exercises. FWIW, I don't think that shaft type played a part in my injury as much as poor swing mechanics, and hitting hundreds of balls.

I was suffering some issues with my elbow but fixed the pain through stretching and massage. I use a massage gun daily to keep the muscles loose and do nerve gliding stretches that relieve the pain. Graphite shafts may make a difference but stretching can be your best friend.

I have suffered from this in my right arm. As others have said, regular stretching and massage really helps. I also tweaked my grip and stopped hitting balls at a range with mats just sitting on concrete.
I still prefer steel shafts and have used the same Nippons for many years.

Read that the overlapping grip is one factor that can cause the golfers elbow. I use to have golfers elbow. Might try changing your grip if you use this style. I changed to an interlocking. Could not make the move to the baseball.
  10. I have an issue with my elbow and definitely find softer shafts have helped I was getting to the 11th or 13th hole and in a lot of pain it’s definitely help me

I suffered from this a few years ago and my orthopedist said one of the major causes is some of the older mats and hitting a lot of balls off these mats

I feel your pain, Don. In every way. Left elbow, out for 11 months. Right elbow, 6 months. I was told I had to have surgery on both. First Doctor told me I had to have surgery on my left elbow without doing any exam, just listening to my symptoms. His assistant jumped right in and tried to schedule me on the spot. Of course, I left and never came back. I did not have surgery. The best therapy is stretching, far and away, without doubt, before and after golf. Also working out to strengthen the entire body and affected areas. But the killer of most athletes is thinking that we're as supple and flexible as we were when we were kids. Also, drinking lots of fluids, water, lemon water, massaging the sore area day and night. This has worked for me and I am pain free and swinging free. Prevention is everything. Waiting until it's too late is disaster. Hope this helps at least someone to prevent further injuries, pain and discomfort.

Don, I struggle with tennis elbow from time to time, and it's been flaring up the last few weeks. What has helped me is icing it every morning and night, and wearing one of those velcro bands right below the elbow at my job.

I get it from time to time as well, I use a Senteq elbow brace when I play that helps a lot. I've tried a lot of different straps and braces for it but Senteq works the best for me.
