Another vote for Worthington Manor in Urbana MD (part of Frederick). Been a member there for 7 years. I play lots of other places, but nothing is as satisfying to me as Worthington.

I also work in the Pro Shop at the Club of PB Dye, just a few minutes down the road from WM. It too is a very tough course, in great condition at this time of year. I would recommend it along with Worthington if you are looking for a true double-barrelled challenge.

Worthington is a 10X US Open qualifying site. It has also hosted the Maryland Open, US Am Qualifier, US Senior Open Qualifier, US Public Links Qualifier, US Junior Am Qualifier, as well as many other state and regional championships, along with many other Division 1 college tournaments.

A few years back, the Club at PB Dye was listed in the top 25 most challenging courses you can play in the U.S.

Two others in the same area, albeit not quite as difficult, but beautiful, are Whiskey Creek in Ijamsville and Musket Ridge about 20 minutes further out from Urbana on 270/70, near Middletown. All four are some of the best golf in the state, west of DC. and all are usually in excellent condition.
  5. Wow this is amazing advice! I will be browsing the websites tonight!

Would you like to meet up at the Club of PB Dye? Would be great to go around with a local !

Being from Martland and living in Germantown for 20 years, Doug is spot on. Any and all of those tracks are worth it. Worthington Manor and Whiskey Creek would be my two favorites.
  9. Thanks so much for the advice, i had seen Whisky creek, seems stunning! Definitly will book a tee there!

If any of you very kind people would like to show me around any of the tracks I would be delighted!

Hey Dan! Welcome to the DC, Maryland, Virginia area, or the DMV as we like to call it. Where will you be, how many rounds do you plan to play, and how far are you willing to drive? If you’re going to be in DC you’ll likely be closer to one or the other, Maryland or Virginia. On the Maryland side, the 270 corridor has PB Dye (probably my favorite), Whiskey Creek, Little Bennett, Maryland National, and Musket Ridge. There’s also Blue Mash, Northwest Park, Needwood, and Laytonsville. Probably about the same distance from DC but in the opposite direction you have Queenstown Harbor (across the Bay Bridge from Annapolis, MD. They have two courses (the River and the Lakes) and both are really fun. In the same direction but probably half as much is Lake Presidential and Oak Creek. Both really fun. On the Virginia side, I’d say, Stonewall, Westfields (Freddy Couples), and maybe 1757. There’s also Nicklaus’ Potomac Shores (not a fan) but almost across the street is Forest Greens, a nice Billy Casper course. Have a great trip!
  13. Thanks Professor!

I am over for 3 weeks and plan on playing 2 rounds a week! We will be based in Ellicott City and I am happy to travel 1-2 hours!!! Would love to meet some US TT guys!

I live in Ellicott City and am Sales Director at a course about 30 minutes away, Compass Pointe. I'd love to host and join you for a round threre if you can fit it in among all these other great courses. PM me for contact details if you'd like.
  15. Hi Robert! Just landed yesterday and raring to go! would love to join youfor a round! When are you available? Iv just messaged you too.
  16. If you are OK really driving, I would recommend Bulle Rock in Havre De Grace, MD. Pete Dye design. Find a good place to eat around there if you like seafood. Great views all around. Enjoy!

I live in Leesburg, VA ... right across the Point of Rocks bridge in MD. So I play a lot of courses up in western MD. Like others have said, it really depends how far out of DC you want to drive. There are so many golf courses outside the beltway that I could be here forever telling you which to play. But I'll tell you my favorites up this way .... Raspberry Falls (I'm 10 min from there ... Gary Player design), Whiskey Creek, MD National, PB Dye, Blue Mash, Old Hickory, The Timbers at Troy, Compass Pointe, Swan Pointe Yacht & CC (right off the Potomac River).
There are quite a few great golf courses in our area. You won't be disappointed wherever you choose to play.
  19. Thanks for the advice! I have booked Whisky Creek so far!! Scheduling in the others too! Also got tickets for Wells Fargo Championship at TPC Potomac!

I want to thank @dpester for coming out to my course today and joining me for a round. He was a geniune pleasure to play with. He had a full bag of TT gear with the new T200's highlight it. HE only lacks a Scotty and says that's next on the list :)

But what a grea time, I loved hearing about life "across the pond" and sharing with him some US experiences.
Thanks to Alan the TT Staff for hosting this forum that helps bring both golfers and Titleist enthusiast together.

He has palyed some wonderful courses while here in Maryland. Maybe one day I'll get to head over to the UK and see some of the great courses there.

  24. Many thanks ROB!

Just landed back in the UK and still grinning from ear to ear with the golf experiances that were enjoyed! Wells Fargo Championship , Titleist Ball plant 3 visit and playing 3 amazing courses in MD!

The highlight of the trip is without a doubt the day i spent with Rob at Compass Pointe Golf Club on their wonderful course that was in amazing condition for early summer.

Rob was an absolute legend and his love of all things golf was just a joy to listen to, i can not thank Team Titleist enough for this forum and how it enabled Rob and I to meet as two complete strangers and have an absolute ball on the course! Rob was an amazing TT ambassador dressed head to toe in TT gear! and at the end presenting myself with an incredible Titleist 3 Ball presentation pack!

I cannot wait to show you some UK courses Rob - let me know when you come!

    Many thanks Team Titleist
