Be consistent when I play, I have a few local fun tournaments I'm playing in.
My goal would be to lower my index back down to 10-12 range from 14.
Last year I went down from 18.9 so I know I can do it.

My chipping became something I feared last year at the end of the season, this year it's better but not near the way I used yo chip. So lessons might be in the works there.

Fewer putts per round. When you hit all 9 greens in a 9 hole round and shoot 37, thats 17 full shots and 20 putts.

Not good...and obviously something I need to work on.

Mike, when I look at my putting strokes and how to improve. I kinda' look backwards from the hole. How can I get the ball closer to the hole so I can take less putts. I am currently working on my short game, which will help me with my putting numbers. Of course that is me. Do I hit it at the flag, short or long? I remember what an old fellow use to tell me who could putt the eyes out with his putter. Kind of funny and was humiliating when I was struggling. think he was trying to make a point and help me, but boy could he putt. He played with the likes of Sam Snead and Ben Hogan, gambling up and down the east coast (pretty good company). Learned a lot from him. He was a character. He would always tell me; Chuck, if you hit it in the bottom of the cup it goes in most of the time and laugh like heck. Good story and helps me when I struggle. =)

Improve my wedge play. New Sm9 with more bounce is on the way to help a bit with that. Definitely a week area. I waste a bunch of good chances by hitting mediocre wedge shots.

Down to a 4.8 from 6.8 after finally getting some lessons. I have the qualifiers for wa state am today so we’ll see how that goes. I played a local am this weekend at 79-73 which was pretty good considering the contritions. The biggest thing I’m happy with is that I had a plan and stuck to it for 36 holes. Bad swings happen, but bad choices don’t have to. I committed to hit whatever club covered the 150 off the tee, which meant I was only hitting driver a few times. I also committed to laying up on par 5s unless I was inside 240. I pulled it off and they results seemed to follow. I’ll test it again today. Loving the tsi3s, t200s, sm9s, and phantom 5.5.
  10. Random question- found and bought a golf club at Good Will..... not sure Re value and quality.... learning and new to golf-

Welcome to the forum and to this wonderful game of golf. As for your goodwill find, what you have is standard "sand wedge"...I'm guessing you misspelled "Vokey" (not "Voney"). If the grooves are in good shape and the club is otherwise undamaged, you can add it to your bag. As for being rare, unfortunately, it's not going to make you rich, but you may get a sleeve of ProV1's for it.

Goals are just to be able to practice more.
  14. I have two main goals. First, I captain a Ryder Cup style team, and we are defending our cup at the end of June, and I desperately want to beat the other 4 teams again. Secondly, I am consistently a bogey golfer and this summer I want to break that and shoot consistently in the 80's. So far I'm averaging an 89.

Try to reduce my handicap from 12 back down to 8!

It's been 5 years since playing at that level, but with my new Titleist clubs (TSi2 D, FW, HB & T300 with Senior shafts) I am getting much better distance and consistency.

Putting is always a challenge - but this has to do with the user! Own 10 putters of different shapes, weights and styles - fact is I am just a poor putter (36 a rnd).

    Everyone have a great season!
