Hey Team Titleist – Please join us in congratulating Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Young on winning the 2021-2022 PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year award, making it four ROY awards in a row for #TeamTitleist.

The 25-year-old from Scarborough, N.Y., earned 94 percent of his peers’ votes after finishing the regular season at No. 9 in the FedEx Cup standings, while working his way inside the Top 20 of the Official World Golf Ranking (he’s currently 16th).

Cameron’s former Wake Forest teammate, and fellow Titleist Brand Ambassador, Will Zalatoris took the title last season, with the duo becoming the first back-to-back winners from the same college. Titleist Brand Ambassador Sungjae Im won it in 2018-19.

Young, who earned his PGA TOUR card as a 2021 Korn Ferry Tour graduate, finished runner-up on five occasions this year (the Sanderson Farms Championship, the Genesis Invitational, the Wells Fargo Championship, the Open Championship, and the Rocket Mortgage Classic). He also finished one shot out of a playoff at both the RBC Heritage and the PGA Championship at Southern Hills. One of just two rookies to qualify for the Tour Championship, Young made 18 cuts in 25 appearances, a model for consistency in his debut year on TOUR.

“It’s very special,” said Young on winning the award. “I know we had a very strong rookie class and I know it's voted by my peers, so it's a huge honor to be thought of in that way, just to kind of finish the year that way.”

Young finished the 2021-22 season 2nd in Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee (.914) and 3rd in Driving Distance (319.3 yards). He ranked 6th in Birdie Average (4.41) and 15th in both SG: Tee-to-Green (1.124) and SG: Total (1.265). A bogey-free 9-under 62 at The Riviera Country Club in the second round of the Genesis Invitational marked Young’s lowest round of the year, while an opening 8-under 64 and a closing 7-under 65 at the 150thOpen Championship at the Old Course further exhibited his ability to go low.

When asked of his strongest memory of the season, Young responded: “Probably St. Andrews. It's just a different experience, I think. Playing The Open, that’s about the most fans we see all year maybe with the exception of Waste Management. They love golf over there. And to walk into kind of the town center to play the 18th hole at St. Andrews is different than anything you find anywhere else. So just knowing the history there and to play well that week was very cool.”

It was on the 18th at the Old Course where Young hit two of the season’s most memorable shots. Gaming a NEW Titleist TSR3 10.0 driver he had put in play one week prior, Young drove the green, leaving himself with a 17-foot eagle putt. With his Scotty Cameron Phantom X, he drained the putt to leap into solo 2nd place, the best finish by a player at St. Andrews making their Open debut since 1964.

See below for details on Cameron Young’s all-Titleist bag set-up that delivered him a season to remember in 2021-2022.
