The last round of golf I played was October 15th, 2022. Dad was in the hospital. Stable. Sleeping. Not unusual for this time of day. He knew how much I love this game and told me several times to go play on previous days while I was with him, so I decided to go a mile down the road to a little municipal course and cram 9 holes. I had just putted out on 9 when my mom called to tell me his BP dropped and his O2 was dropping. I hurried back and within the hour he was gone.

I haven’t played since. My score that day was 18 on 9 holes. I don’t regret going because he always wanted me to and enjoyed hearing my stories and my scores, but I am sad that I couldn’t share it with him or that I won’t be able to anymore.

Tomorrow, I hit the course again with the remembrance of the man who bought my first set of clubs, taught me how to putt, and who never played a round of golf in his life.

Sorry for your loss, I wish you and your family the best.

My favorite golfing partner of all time was my dad. He passed away in 2007 shortly before our oldest was born. As I introduced my oldest to the game, he's really taken it up and been side-by-side with me on the course for years and I always smile when I think of how much he would have loved playing golf with his grandson. And while type 1 diabetes took away most of his sight long before he passed, he also would have loved watching my youngest take up his truly favorite game of tennis.

It hits hardest around the holidays when I try to get some extra rounds in because I take time off. My dad would have been retired and joining me and the boys in some activity.

So sorry for your loss. I lost a fellow coworker who was a very good golfing buddy. To remember him I had text printed on my golf balls that I play with. Now I honor and remember him when I play. Maybe you could do that for your father so he’s always with you and on your mind when you’re golfing.

I am sorry for your loss.

My last round with my dad was in 2016 and I often think about that round (at the time not knowing it would be the final time we would play together) and it brings good memories to mind.

Condolences to you and your family. My grandfather and father both taught me the game and how to be a gentleman within it. I still miss him. Get out and play - I'm sure he want you to do that.

Sorry for your loss. My biggest regret in golf is that my father never played the game. We were close and it would have meant a lot to be able to play together. Put his initials on your ball. I think that would be great.

My dad played golf but I didn't take up the game until after he had passed. You don't know how many times I wish that I had started playing when he was still alive so we could have that time together. Still kicking myself for not holding on to his clubs.
