Will Zalatoris. Webb Simpson. Joseph Bramlett.

These three players make up just a few of the PGA TOUR professionals who shaped their careers after winning some of the top amateur events in the country – now known as the Elite Amateur Golf Series.

In what was the first season of a partnership between top competitive amateur championships, the Elite Amateur Golf Series features seven different events hosted at some of the top golf courses around the country: The Sunnehanna Amateur, Northeast Amateur, North & South Amateur, Trans-Mississippi Amateur, Southern Amateur, Pacific Coast Amateur, and Western Amateur.

With storied histories and some of the best fields in amateur golf, the series is a new proving ground for the game’s next generation.

To follow the series’ first year, we partnered with our friends at FootJoy and Outside TV to follow five players in their pursuit of winning The Elite Amateur Cup: 2022 NCAA Individual Champion Gordon Sargent, University of North Carolina senior Dylan Menante, Arizona State University freshman Luke Potter, University of Notre Dame senior Palmer Jackson, and elite mid-amateur and NHL referee Garrett Rank.

So if you want to catch up on the action from the amateur golf world, the 24 minutes below are a must-watch to round out the year.

Fun fact: Across of the series’ seven events, Titleist was the #1 ball and the most played, driver, fairway, hybrid, utility iron, iron, wedge and putter.

  4. why not include The Porter Cup in the amateur series ? http://portercup.com/ you won't find a tournament on finer course with its history and players that made to the PGA and became winners.

Mike this is awesome! Especially for me as I look to get my 4 year old son and 5 year old daughter in golf, there are resources and opportunities to work for.

Mike, Great Stuff! But those of us who follow amateur and college golf closely can't understand how the Porter Cup was not included in the 1st year of the elite amateur series...?

A 72 hole stroke play event with no cut held at Niagara Falls CC each July for over 60 years. The above mentioned NHL Ref Garrett Rank has played in the last several Porter Cups almost winning the last two.

Past winners include Howard Twitty, Bobby Clampett, John Cook, Scott Verplank, Jay Sigel, Robert Gamez, Phil Mickelson, David Duvall, Ben Crenshaw, Nathaniel Crosby, Gary Nicklaus, and most recently Denny McCarthy and Brandon Wu.

Then there are those who didn't win the Porter Cup but played in it as amateurs like Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith, Max Homa, Billy Horschel, Jason Kokrak, Brooks Koepka, Kevin Kisner, Russell Henly, Matt Kuchar, Harold Varner, Adam Scott, Webb Simpson, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brent Snedeker, Bill Haas, Jim Furyk and just too many more to mention.

Many of us find it hard to call it an "elite amateur series" when the Porter Cup was not included as one of the tournaments.

  8. I haven’t decided let what to get in the RSDrivers I currently use a TSI2 10 loft set for a high draw , my age is 78 and I don’t have a very fast swing speed . But I do usually get 220-230 yards and a slight draw on my drives , do you think I could handle a TS3 driver or stick with a TS2 driver ? I should go and try in a fitting ! A lot of coarses don’t have the shaft selection , I use to hit a stiff flex now I’m on to a regular flex . Any comments please . James k
  9. Ok thanks I’ll wait .
