Any golfers with any experience on this matter? Any specific lense? Horror Stories? Success stories

I personally have not experienced having cataract surgery. I do know people who have had it and all have been grateful and are happy with the results. For many of us, its not matter if but when we'll have the surgery.

I am scheduled for mine during April first left eye then right eye 2 weeks later . my wife had it last year and sees better then she ever did but does have to wear good sunglasses as eyes seem to be sensitive to bright sun

Had both eyes about 6-7 years ago.
Good news, I can legally drive without lenses. That was a big deal - I can’t remember getting out of bed w/o glasses to find the floor. Colors are brighter, shades more vibrant.
Depth perception was not great before and did not change much. A small % may later experience a detached retina. Lucky me! Puts me in a special group. After recovering I got back 95%+ in that eye.

My dad had the surgery done a few years ago and for the first time in my life he doesn't need his glasses. It is very strange to see him without them as he wasn't able to see a foot in front of him without them before. Good luck.

I had both lenses replaced about 2 years ago. They did them 6 months apart. I was 50 - They told me I was in the pediatric cataract unit! :) I noticed things were much crisper, but also much brighter. My Doc told me since they were brand new, that's what happened. No effect on my golf game, just saw things better. Good luck to you.

Having mine done in April as well.

One of my playing partners (a rules official) just got his done and expects to be back in the mix shortly.

I have never wore glasses in my life so it is scary but a must do for me.
  8. My father….in his 80’s had the procedure last year. His golf game has improved as well as his overall quality of life. He tells me he’s able to read the contour of greens much better and improved his putting dramatically. As for me, I can read greens just fine….but still can seem to putt!!! Good luck, it is always disconcerting when dealing with the eyes.

I’ve had both lenses replaced and I’m pretty young to get them done. I find that the brighter it is the more I require sunglasses to focus on the ball. The late afternoon/evening rounds I also might need my glasses for clarity (reduce halo effect of lights and tracking the ball in the night). For reference I have one eye near-sighted and one eye for distance. That was done by my opthamologist so that in my later years I won’t need reading glasses.
  11. Sounds like I need to have mine done!
