  1. So we all play golf and enjoy it

What do you accomplish by playing golf is it the friendship...freedom of being away from work

    Etc etc

For me it is being on the course knowing my score is in my hands and the friendly banter

I find the drive to improve at something that I know I will never master helps me in other aspects of life. The time outdoors and exercise again helps general wellbeing. The best part is that just by being interested in golf you can feel part of a wider community, I certainly do.

Comradery and being outdoors enjoying mother nature. Golf should be fun and not taking ourselves to seriously. Kinda forgot that yesterday, my first day back, after five months of the frustration of not being able to play, all came out on the course with a few choice words. My ball nor my clubs listened. Like letting the air out of a balloon. Was kind of embarrassing. I retired on September 11, 2011, the first day after my 65th birthday, with one goal in mind, to play more golf.

Being on the course with friends and having some friendly competition, just getting out to unwind. I like the technical aspect and constantly trying to improve.

I have just a little bit of a different perspective. Diagnosed with AML(blood cancer) last August, I have not been able to play the game I love. This time has given me a chance to reflect on why I love this game so much. I believe I have taken the ability to be out there with friends, breathe the fresh air, enjoy mother nature and challenge myself to improve every round for granted. Last week my normal 4some let me ride with them. What a great day. I did not hit a ball, but enjoyed every minute of the day. On the 7th hole, which I typically pull it ob on a regular basis, All 3 in the group intentionally hit their ball ob. Believe it or not, this was one of my best golf experiences and why I love this game.

The friendships I have developed with my regular golf group, which now includes golf vacations as well as our regular Tuesday round. Hitting a shot flush and how that felt. Being out on a golf course with friends, playing a game I have a ridiculous passion for and enjoying all that goes with it. And yes, that includes the frustrations.

I think it is all of the aspects of the game. Being outside; camaraderie of other golfers; the competition aspect; the desire to improve; the fact that some days are better than others; the outright fun of the game - whether playing as a single, or with a group. There are so many other parts of playing golf that make it great, I don't think I could list them all.

enjoying some laughs with friends and family. Golf creates the best environment to grow friendships.
  10. Definitely the friendships I have developed through playing the game. Going home and enjoying rounds with my friends from grade school as we are now well into the 4th quarter.

Having played just about every sport growing up, knowing I was pretty good, but I would never be in the NBA or play wide receiver in the NFL, I know when I hit a shot from 150 out that lands within 5 feet, or chipping in a curving downhill 40 footer, no matter how fleeting the moment, I am on the level of the best in the world. the only sport where a Joe can every now and then, play like a pro.

Just the enjoyment of being outside doing something that I love and the freedom of doing it whenever I want.

Love of the game and being out and enjoying nature.
  14. I have also accomplished something very special

I was the full club captain at my golf club and done this for 18 months and I was the youngest full club captain anywhere in the world at the tender age of 23 and something I am very proud of

    Great memories
  15. We have a fantastic group. We get 4 tee times, and play Tuesday and Thursday. I look forward to playing, and regardless of how I play, I always have fun. Best bunch of guys I’ve ever played with.
  16. Spending time with friends and chasing that feeling of the perfect shot.

We play golf to be competitive. Why else would we? Some people play golf with their friends, for their company and comradery, I play with guys that are competitive. I go to the bar or have dinner with my friends.
  19. I just love getting out on the course to have a good time with my friends and family.
  20. For me it’s the freedom. While I’m out on the coarse nothing else matters and it’s all up to me. The banter with mates is an added bonus.
  21. I am new to this one, but I really like that it is outdoors and I can go with friends.
