  1. Hi TT:

I was back home playing the course I grew up on some 50 years ago and one of my best buddies ended up three yards behind a 12' high greenside bunker. The pin was cut 4 paces from the top of the bunker. I expected him to pull out his 58-60 degree and try to flop it.

Instead, he pulls out a hybrid, chops it like he was George Washington and puts it within 6 feet. Definitely one of the craziest I have ever seen.

I was playing in a scramble several years ago. There was a green that had a protective net behind it. It was there to protect the tee for the next hole. I skull a sand wedge. Hit a liner right at the next group waiting to tee off behind the net. They all dive out of the way, not sure why because they were behind the net, the ball hits the net, then then frame of the net and shoots back towards the hole. It hits the flag, the actual flag part not the stick, and it drops straight down an inch from the hole. The worst best shot I think I ever hit.

Before the renovation of our course, hole number thirteen, which ran along the river could provide some real challenges. At high tides the fairways became rather swampy and during the summer the fairways were rather hard and ran like a scalded rabbit. Could easily be driven at times. Had a couple of eagles on that sweet little par four before the renovation. None since. A lot of time we would use our putters because of the lack of grass from varied distances in the fairway. Weird day, 126 feet from the hole in the fairway, pulled out my putter and gave it a go. Ground too hard to pitch or chip so it was the ole Texas wedge and nailed that putt. Longest putt of my career. No putt hole. Strangest I have seen or made. The renovation of the hole makes it difficult to make a par. and, no, to the chances of this happening again.

Don't have any crazy shot stories, but I have hit a GIR on a Par 3, and when I got to the hole my ball was gone. Taken by an animal or something, no clue where it went, and wasn't a hole-in-one unfortunately!

If you live along the coast, as we do, sea gulls can be a culprit. Ravens also like white shiny objects. Hard to loose a ball on a par three. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I brought my buddy out to my course last year and he gets on the 1st tee, rips a driver not more than 2" off the ground...the ball hit the forward tee marker and went straight up in the air. The hang time on the ball was forever, the wind blew it back to the point where it landed about 2 feet in front of him. It was a great moment!

Up in Alaska, when I was living up there, there was a split fairway small dog leg to the right Pa5 5 that was guarded by a coyote, and periodically when he was around and that a ball landed on or near the green, he would come and snatch it up. So, a friend and I got curious to see where he was collecting them and putting them. After about 5 minutes of looking, we stumbled upon about 300 plus golf balls in about a 30 foot radius.

Playing with my boss. The 18 tee box has a pond next to the tee box with chain attached to 1 inch pipes to prevent carts from going in
My boss hits it off the toe and hits one of the pipes and it goes into the water. He retees and hits the exact same pipe and it goes into the water.
  10. Two come to mind. First was in a scramble, par 5. We're in the fairway and one of our group hits his 3w and no one sees it. Look down and it's embedded right in front of where it was. Second, on the first tee my buddy hits his driver, hits right down on top of the ball, it hits the ground right in front, pops straight up in the air and he caught it lol.
