I’ve seen information for some groups such as US AM Tour and others, but was wondering if there is any framework for someone interested in joining a Tour/Tournament and actually competing?

There really isn't much to it. When I lived in AZ I "joined" the Golf Channel Amateur Tour. As long as you have a handicap established, you sign up for an event/pay the entry fee, show up and hope not to crumble under pressure. If you're fortunate enough to win your flight you get some pretty cool prizes.

I joined our state golf association. They have tournaments all over North Carolina, both individual and four ball. I try to play in about 6-8 a year. It's a great way to meet new people and see how your game is progressing. Was lucky enough to win a couple of net tournaments last year. Sometimes it pays to suck at golf lol.

Each club, if they have league play, will be a part of the state association usually. i'm in MO as well, and we are a part of the MGA. as another guy said, it gives us access as a group to the GHIN app for handicaps. On there, you can see different tournaments close to you.

IF you are Military, Vet or family you can look at the VGA. They have state events, Regionals and Nationals.

if you have a physical disability, check out the USAGA.org. We host adaptive golf tournaments all over the US and with the USGA hosting the Adaptive Open this week in Pinehurst, there is going to be an uptick in interest.

I did the Golfweek am tour when I lived in Savannah GA. I dont have one close to me now. I loved it. Competition by handicap. Most of the guys you played with were pretty cool. Plus make some new golfing and life long friends.

You could also check out some other smaller local or budding tours. The Grint comes to mind as they have been putting on some great events locally that I've heard a good things from folks.
  11. I would love to get into four ball but I can never find a proper partner to play and enter with. The hardest part is finding tournaments/AM events in the winter. Especially ones where you don't have to travel across the country, and that count towards your AM ranking.
  12. I am the tour director for Golfweek Amateur Tour in Alabama. we have over 45 tours around the country with 5 flights. We have a place for any golfer to compete.
